Yup, Catholicism doesn’t recognize same sex marriage. The issue is a hot button among different branches of Christianity. But the Catholic Church cares more about communion, praying the rosary, and holy water baptism than if there’s any gay people attending mass. Kyle’s quote “I don’t want Cody killing me!” explains his position on kissing Oliver. Their town only has a few thousand people so things do get around. He’s certainly careful at home as well as at the local high school. We’ll see how long he can hide it.

Aedan and Jake are 13 & 1/2 years old at this point. Sexuality and orientation are things they are just starting to understand and figure out as they get older. We’re only seeing Aedan’s point of view so who knows what is going on in Jake’s head? XD. That age also comes with a lot of insecurity. Jake is a bit of a late bloomer while Aedan has hit some growth spurts and is further ahead in his male development, so there’s a little jealousy from Jake that came out in the shower which made things awkward for both of them. Those bruises are certainly noticeable while he doesn’t have a shirt on, which seems to be frequent while at the beach.

The rivalry between Tempton and Fletcher is pretty intense. If Joel decides to play baseball (I have a feeling the Kepler twins will certainly try to convince him), the rivalry could get worse, with the Tempton boys pissed that their rivals got one of their best players. I was in JV baseball for a couple years back in high school so that ending scene was pretty sad :’( I’m sure the War Hawk boys will take Joel in if he lets them.

The story has been completed in my word documents, so I won't be spoiling anything too specific, but the self defense will come into play again in the future. Yup, unfortunately. As for Razi’s age… if he was Killian’s age (18) the situation would be more excusable, but Razi is more likely closer in age to Micah and Paul, which would be a significant age (and maturity) gap and would mean Razi is taking advantage of this poor kid. Chris seems cool. She will hopefully be a useful partner on this case. This case might make her more interested in law enforcement and detective work rather than dissuade her like her dad intends 😅

Welp, Killian is beginning his next investigation in DC. This time he has a partner. Killian made a promise to not take unnecessary risks. I’m assuming he’s going to break that again and get into a near death situation as usual.

An awkward hot sweaty high school party. Davin and Joel ditch out early and talk about their kiss. I wonder who else in this town (I believe it’s called Fletcher?) knows about Davin being gay (other than Gavin his twin bro)? I wonder if Colt knows about Davin’s crush on him. That might “ruin the friendship”. Davin said “should kiss you anyway” (guys don’t kill me over this reference) to forget about Colt and now he likes Joel a lot, and he seems to like Davin back. Javin is a thing now!

It seems Jake might be involved in this high end escort business given the clues in his room. That could explain all his extra cash.

Given the other comments here, I guess I am in the minority here. Killian’s feelings here are understandable. Yeah, he was a bit impatient to get Micah to talk, an a bit naive to think of the relationship as a magical Disney “prince charming” romance. But, I do wish Micah had talked about this before the two of them had sex in the hotel room that morning. Prostitution (if you want to call it that) is a messy thing, and Killian should have learned about that huge part of Micah’s past before surrendering his virginity. Ideally, this talk should have happened when the two of them agreed to break down the walls after Micah’s ultimatum at the diner a few chapters ago. Micah was being hypocritical telling Killian to open up and let him in when Micah wasn’t willing to do the same about his own past until Ted and Razi kind of forced it out. As for Paul, I’m assuming Killian is going to be investigating this murder to find out who killed him, and probably learn more about the darker side of the “high-end escort” business.

Killian is likely in some hot water with Topher King. The reason he looks great for 30 is because he’s being impersonated by an 18 year old junior detective. Topher might report his impostor to the security at the conference and Killian’s cover is blown. Hopefully the early morning sex situation doesn’t impede on investigating Mr Knox. Novak did warn him about “getting distracted by sex”. And here he is… getting distracted by sex.

Interesting experience for Oliver and Declan. I guess the rumors are true regarding ginger guys.

Killian is quite the busy guy. College freshman student and private investigator working on two cases simultaneously while also doing paperwork for his boss, dating Micah, stalking targets, going to club meetings, making time for his family, and attracting crushes from Noah and Sharia. It’s a lot to juggle.

“ I don't know you any better now than when we started dating.” Micah, honey, your boyfriend is 4-5 years younger than you and in college plus busy assisting a private investigator. Give him some time please. and (possible spoilers for one of the side plot stories) Anyways, I’m surprised this story came up so quickly. Will be quietly reading along each chapter leaving occasional comments as usual.

I’m glad Joel opened up for once to let Celia and Trace in. It can be a tough thing to get teen boys to do. Cody already knew Joel was gay. Wesley probably told him. And his elementary/middle school classmates maybe told him about what being gay means. Joel’s dad seems determined to help Cody and ajoel get some hangout time. I do hope Joel gets to move back home at the end because I hate what the separation is doing to Cody.

Well, just like that, Joel’s glass walls he had to protect his secret have shattered. Colt found out and Davin has a similar secret of his own. I predicted that one back in the chapter we first met Davin and he chatted with Joel out on the porch before they shared a bed for the night. Davin and Joel might get into a bit of a relationship if Joel allows that into his life. Joel is still hyper vigilant about things. Very protective and aggressive when confronted. Hopefully Davin, Colt, and maybe Gavin, may help him realize he can relax a bit more and let Celia in. Colt already hinted at how his mom would easily accept Joel’s secret but Joel’s too afraid of rejection to listen. Colt is bitter because his parents expect him to take over the ranching business when they retire. I do think Lacey would be more excited by that opportunity while Colt can go pursue other careers he might be interested in.

Well, Killian may be traumatized from his solving of a Civil War era mystery, but Amalie and the baby are now at peace since their true story has been discovered despite the evil captain’s lies about her death. Hopefully the inn that Steve is operating at the old mansion doesn’t have any more hauntings. I guess Killian is a psychic medium now as well as a detective.

Holy cow, they actually dug up the skeleton of a baby. A bit dark, for sure. Definitely traumatic enough to leave a haunting imprint on a house, though. Kane was being very prickly and immature in this chapter, mainly at that dinner meeting scene. “Baby back ribs….” Bruh… Uncool to joke about a skeletal baby like that.
