Aedan is in a bit of a tough time in his life. His parents, as abusive as his dad is, are divorced, and he isn't taking it well. Seth will be in trouble offscreen for his action. Aedan got in trouble for his violent outburts when he should have kept his cool and reported Seth's verbal bullying without shoving him into a locker. Jake is upset with Aedan over this behavior (and leaving him behind to deal with the aftermath). This was one of the chapters that changed a bit from the original version with the added scenes about him fighting Seth and running away. So. hopefully that was worth the change for you readers.

May 10 2019 “Oliver, get up, you’re gonna be late!” Mom entered my room. She was surprised to see Cody in bed with me. He had been over yesterday to help me with trig homework and I invited him to spend the night. “Mhhh...” I mumbled groggily as I sat up and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. “What time is it?” “It’s 7:45. School starts in 15 minutes,” she crossed her arms. “Also, Cody, what are you doing here? Oliver, I’ve told you the rules. He can’t be in your room with you.”

Well, at least that villain Fenton Black is dead now…. I wonder who murdered the people in the house… There’s still a chance it could have been Jake depending on the gun he had on him. And I guess we’ll find out who Fenton hired to kill Paul. I don’t think the two sets of murders were by the same person.

August 27 2017 After I finished unpacking all my clothes in my new closet in a spare room at Jake’s house, I heard a knock. “Come in!” I called before sitting on the bed. Steven Grant, Jake’s dad, entered the room. “Hi, sir. Thanks so much for lettin’ us live here for a bit…” “I trust you are settling in okay?” He asked in his British accent. “Yessir,” I nodded. He looked around for a moment. The walls in here were a navy blue, which contrasted with my grey and red bedding.

Yup, some people haven’t gotten the memo yet about treating people well. And yes, Oliver was a little slow, but he now knows about Logan’s feelings for him. Cody hopefully was able to figure it out at some point, but he didn’t let it bother him.

Nina is Aedan's girlfriend, so I guess he feels the need to tell her more than Jake. He's also an irrational 13 and a half year old so logic isn't always there XD Yeah abuse can often happen without others noticing. Aedan thankfully followed Jake's advice and told his mom so that has helped reduce the abuse. The coach may not have seen it happen to Aedan but Aedan definitely did the same thing back to Vincent, so neither of the boys are innocent there. Aedan's name means "little fire" so it's a bit fitting with how reactive/hotheaded he can be sometimes. But, yeah, teachers/coaches/etc aren't always the most observant to everything going on with troublemakers/roughhousing etc.

Joel has GUTS…. Brave as hell to pull off something so stupid wearing the Tempton clothes and doing the Tiger yell in the cafeteria. He was asking for it with those football jocks. Jax definitely started it, but Joel and Roy definitely antagonized it. Got a bit of a laugh out of it, but yeah they’re in trouble with that principal. He and Roy are getting closer as friends though, which I like to see. Other people mentioned a “New Joel” and yeah he kinda flipped a switch overnight it seems. He went from reserved to bold at his new school. Maybe tomorrow he’ll say screw it and come out as gay.

I’m no psychologist, but it seems like Jake has survivor’s guilt. It also seems like this escort business isn’t as clean as Micah assumed when he was an employee there. Fenton Black… erm… Neal… whatever his name is… is some kind of predator. He never met his escorts, but he knows everything about them and has pictures of them, and I don’t like what that implies. Hopefully Novak is on Fenton’s good side, so Killian can catch a break or he might be targeted, too.

Black olives are my second favorite pizza topping (after mushrooms) lol. Pineapple is definitely a weird topping though. Toby definitely knows more than Oliver and Cody about what's going on with Logan. Logan's been quite hostile to Oliver and just distant and cold to Cody.

April 6th 2019 “Happy birthday, Oliver,” Cody hugged me outside of my house. Toby and I had a couple friends over for our 17th birthday, and they’d be spending the night. I learned a valuable lesson to not begin posting stories until I conclude them in my word document(s). I might need to make minor changes (spellibg etc) as I post things, but no major edits. Or else I just keep changing plot points in my brain and then I feel the need to retcon everything else lol. So now stories I post will be pretty complete and set in stone.

Jake made a promise to not tell anyone. Aedan is his only friend, so he’ll be keeping that promise. Jake wants Aedan to talk to his mom about it though. The boys go back home in the next chapter, so he won’t be around Jake’s parents as much for them to be noticing things, if they don’t know already.

Noah certainly doesn’t take no for an answer. He knows Killian is taken yet he flirts with him and tries to kiss him. Killian played into it too by dancing with him and flirting back. Hopefully, Micah doesn’t come to check out the party if he gets off work a little sooner than expected… Kane is quite the charmer lol! Kane, Killian, and Noah are all super brave going in those costumes. I would never have the confidence going out in public wearing anything skimpy or suggestive. 😳

Joel is stressed out to the point where he can't sleep. Roy is trying to make the best of his switching schools by joining the boy's volleyball team. He's trying to be friendly and Joel is just being broody and cold. Maybe Joel should listen to him, lighten up a bit, and actually join the baseball team that everyone wants him to join. I feel like he's cutting himself short of enjoying his senior year and possible college baseball opportunities by cutting himself off like this. It's driving a wedge in his little side romance (if you want to call it that) with Davin. If he needs a new jersey number, he can go with 71 the reverse of his old number 17 taken by that other guy. Colt and Joel were kind of acting like, well, brothers, with the teasing, banter, and playful punching. At least that side of things is looking better. As for the situation with the football players, that just spells trouble in some future chapter.

Yup, a fun fishing trip, despite Aedan getting seasick on the boat. Catching some good fish, and a late night finish to the scavenger hunt. Aedan feels a little duped by Jake for how that ended, just after they made up after the awkwardness at the end of last chapter. Things will speed up more once the vacation ends, at least.

I'm glad you are enjoying the story so far Oliver is a little slow sometimes, especially when it comes to reading people socially. He struggles with school, too. Toby got more of the smart genes in the family, while Oliver got the tall and sporty genes. He's not the sharpest guy in the high school. There's plenty of boys Logan could be interested in, though. Toby seems to be more aware of what's going on at least, since he's closer with Logan than Oliver & Cody are with Logan at this point.

February 14 2019 Weeks passed, with Cody and I keeping our relationship secretive at school. You have no idea how hard it was to not kiss my amazing hot boyfriend. Was nice to get to see a playful side of Killian. Feels like he’s been more serious and bottled up since the first book with his investigations and trauma. At the upscale elegant Halloween Masquerade Ball, I feel like Killian will get the escort client experience from Micah. He’s likely been to those kinds of events before during his time as an escort and will know how it all works. Killian of course will have to keep an eye out for Jake (who might be escorting someone there himself based on previous chapters).
