  1. Don't worry, he gets his moments
  2. For no clear reason, I was feeling a bit restless. Perhaps it was just that there were so many things going on that were out of my usual comfort zones. There was Vince, for a start. Getting closer to him. And we were, amazingly, getting closer. Not to mention the novelty of living in close proximity to a teenager. There was Matt and our friendship, romance, or whatever you wanted to call it. I was enjoying getting to know him, yet it was different to my earlier relationship. And then there
  3. In fact, Iverson's does pop up in Gray, Vince and Matt's story, someway down the line!
  4. I don't think Val has time for golf at the moment but he is certainly eyeing up membership!
  5. It was a bit cold when Toby and Noah met up in Wentworth Park. Neither mentioned Jasper at first, but then Toby said that his Mum had promised it wouldn’t happen again. Noah was curious what the man did for a living, but Toby was vague. His Mum had only said that he drove for his brother-in-law but had found a better post down South. Toby didn’t want to think about Jasper, so they talked about the photo and what Toby was going to do with it. It was too cold to linger, and the park was closi

No, I was being my usual unclear self. The name on Vince's birth certificate is Vincent, the family habitually shorten names.

Regarding Gray's name. The name on his birth certificate is indeed Graham, but he has been called Gray by the family since birth. Similarly it is Vince not Vincent. As happens, he took his full name for the name on his poems, and it has rather stuck.
  10. Tuesday, Freddie had popped his head in mid-morning and said he would like to bring Arvid over. The lad would like to meet me. Was I around during the afternoon? Then he got all embarrassed in a rather teenage boy sort of way. It was funny, really. He clearly wanted to ask me something, maybe a sex thing. I waited as he hummed and stumbled. Finally it came out: when he brought Arvid over, could we be dressed? “Sure, no problem. He doesn’t know we don’t bother with clothes?” “Yeah. He k
  11. Thanks its great to know that we continue to hit the spot!
  12. As soon as Toby dashed off to check on what he thought of as his bugs and bees in Drew and Evie’s orchard, Evie pounced. “So? What did Russ Kahn’s private dicks find out?” “Mum, where on earth did you get that phrase from?” Evie gave a wry smile, “And old film. But I thought it very apt. In the circumstances.” Gordon rolled his eyes, Brian smiled. Gordon’s parents were, indeed, incorrigible. “Not as much as we’d like”, Gordon frowned. “But enough to be going on with
  13. Thanks. The next few chapters will, finally, introduce a bit of drama. Gray and Matt will get there. Eventually!!
  14. On Saturday Bas dragged me into town to a couple of homewares shops. There he took me round and made me say what I liked. This had happened before. Bas despaired of the way I would put off personalising my environment, instead living with whatever the rented accommodation provided without putting my own stamp on it. We also found time to pop into the Castle Gift Shop, where Bas exclaimed over some of the tackier items and I bought a book on the Castle’s history. Well, a couple of books actually,
  15. Yep, I could definitely see Toby in something like this from Aussiebum:
  16. Toby had been planning on hanging around with Justin on Friday after school, they were both staying on after school and the idea of getting an ice cream in Huntsford always appealed, even though the weather was rubbish. One or two of their mates were planning to meet up as well. In the event, Justin had to run off because his parents had decided to go away for the weekend and leave on Friday evening. It sucked, but Justin was excited about the trip. But in fact, it worked out, because on Th
  17. That's partly the point, but it gets to Gray!
  18. On another subject entirely, here's a couple of real life images of the Nature Reserve that inspired the one Gray is fond of:
  19. And we will be having some Jethro Tull in a future chapter!
  20. I was lucky enough to see her later in her career, as Brecht's Mother Courage with the Berliner Ensemble in East Berlin
  21. When I got to Treasures shortly after it opened at eight the next morning, Matt had laughed. He was on the early shift, so as far as I was concerned it made sense and gave me time for all the other jobs that needed to be done before Bas arrived. I came away with bread, cake for tea and even some cookies. We had time for a quick chat as Matt slipped out for five minutes, and I told him about the successful meeting with Simon. When I mentioned about dinner on Friday, he repeated his ‘you sure
  22. “And Noah said it’s dead cool.” Toby looked expectantly at his Father, hoping to persuade Brian that the latest film was worth a family outing. Brian was assembling dinner and Toby was supposedly helping. “Well. We’ll consider it. I’ll chat to Gordon and see if we can sort out a date.” “Thanks Dad.” “When did you see Noah?” “Oh, we met up after school last Monday. I cycled over to Wentworth Park, which isn’t far away and is close enough to his place. We had an ice cream
  23. Don't worry, Moggie will make an appearance. She is shameless when she decides she does like you!
  24. Tuesday I reverted to the bike. I spent most of breakfast telling Matt about the places I had visited the previous day. “I’d like to see some of those.” “Well, some are easy enough.” “But it’d be nice to do it with you, as you wandered around there when you were younger.” “I will warn you, everything is very different now, ten years or so later. But I was thinking of exploring what the landscape was like now. How about this: when Vince is back, let’s work out if there’s a day
