-- Chapter Three -- There was a new poster on the drama room noticeboard when we arrived for our next class on Wednesday of the following week. It was a picture of a young Prince; handsome, a crown perched up on his unruly blond locks, blue eyes and giving the impression of an almost haughty character. I had to look twice when I saw it there. This Prince was a dead-ringer for Charlie. ‘When did you pose for that photo?’ I asked him as we studied the poster. Some of our classmates

-- Chapter Nineteen -- The riders of Septimus fanned out from Castle Carronne, like dark wings across the land; north and south along the coast and the inland trade roads, spreading out into the farmlands, then west toward the Plains of Ashmere and the mountains where nestled the old bastion of Highshaw. To the east, lay the Dark Sea, which beat endlessly against the rocks. It was monitored for departing or arriving boats, of all sizes. No path was left unwatched. No traveller pa

-- Chapter Two -- When Charlie and I spoke on the Sunday night we had arranged to meet at his place and walk to school together the next morning. When I rang their front doorbell that morning the heavy wooden door was answered by a woman who looked nothing like the grandmother I had expected to see. The woman looking out at me didn’t even look old enough to be a grandmother. She had straight grey hair, but she looked more like an office worker; smartly dressed and with a neat hairdo. B

@Summerabbacat I've never had one of those mothers-in-law things -- came close once though -- but I suspect you may be right about that! haha
-
-- Chapter Eighteen -- ‘You knew the meaning of Enoch’s words this morning,’ Ansel said quietly, as he rode beside Jamal on their journey. ‘Yes,’ Jamal replied. ‘Though I wasn’t sure what to do with it at first.’ Ansel’s mouth curved in something close to a smile. ‘Good. If you’d have thought you had known, or if you had done anything other than respond the way you did, I’d be worried.’ He shifted in the saddle, adjusting for his leg. ‘You were being tested, and you prov

-- Chapter One -- All eyes were on the beautiful, yet haughty, young Prince as he walked from the Great Hall of the ancient Castle of Geronia, in a scene accompanied by a trumpeted fanfare, while following in the footsteps of his father, the King. As light from the lanterns that lined the walls flickered and danced, their procession passed by their ever-faithful subjects, who bowed in reverence to their leader and his heir, with not another sound being uttered. Every inch of this Boy w

My Prince wasn't actually a real Prince... and his father wasn't a real King... and his real name wasn't Elwyn. Jesus, who would call a kid that, other than maybe a screenwriter creating some medieval drama for the silver screen? Drama would eventually take my Prince to the pinnacle of his chosen profession. His story... our story... begins in the suburbs of Sydney, Australia.

I love yous all!!!!!

@Summerabbacat on occasion, yes! But usually only when I'm trying to make a point or take the mickey though!

@Summerabbacat and @weinerdog ya'll just gonna have to keep reading I guess. There will be more clues, though the real resolution to that mystery won't be discovered until the next story is written.

Weekly Wrap Up (Mar. 15 - Mar. 21)
Mark Ponyboy Peters commented on wildone's blog entry in Gay Authors News
Would you like a regular temperature year round or do you like your seasons? Definitely a four seasons kind of guy . . . but I wouldn’t object if winter and summer were just a little shorter! Do you wear sunscreen regularly? I do, but not often enough. Did you watch any TV or Movies yesterday? Yeah, yesterday was a misty day outside, so it was a good day to be lazy inside the house. Did some writing. Watched ‘Rust’ (the Alec Baldwin movie), watched my football team get beaten (again), then watched Australian Idol. At the end of it, I was exhausted! lol Do you own any old paperbacks or hard cover books still? At a guess, many hundreds. About three bookcases full in fact, and even more stacked away in boxes! Do you ever read them or are you a digital kind of person now? Yes, I often revisit old favourites, but I also read digital these days. I think I have just as many ebooks saved on my systems as I have printed books. All waiting for the proverbial rainy day. What is the last book as on paper, did you read? Holden Sheppard’s KING OF DIRT. You can read my review here, if you’re keen: https://vocal.media/fiction/book-review-holden-sheppard-s-king-of-dirt -
@Summerabbacat thankyou! I'm trying! lol And I don't think I'm familiar with this song. Very intriguing!

-- Chapter Seventeen -- In the cold light of morning, Septimus returned to the catacombs beneath Carronne. The torches burned low along the narrow passageways, their smoke gathering in sluggish coils beneath the vaulted stone. The rubble from the collapsed tunnel still lay where it had fallen, though the guards had already begun clearing it away under the watchful eyes of their commander. They worked quickly, as no man wished to linger any longer in the presence of the Dark Lord t

@Matthew k in Sydney throughout the 1980's to the 2000's there were numerous cases of missing children, and gays, which were deliberately NOT investigated by some elements of the Police force. There were many "alleged suicides" which subsequently were classed as murder when finally investigated. Corruption was everywhere! And it was kind of what triggered my wanting to write this story when I first started it, almost 25 years ago now.

@Matthew k what a delight! Thank you!

@Summerabbacat thank you kind sir! ❤️❤️❤️ PS... damn! I had no idea that song was so old! LOL

-- Chapter Sixteen -- By now the city above had become a storm of noise. Horns were sounding from the castle towers and from the gatehouses below. Torches burned in knots along the streets. Orders rang from crossroads, while men in livery ran in squads, swords out, cloaks whipping behind them. Somewhere a bell had begun to toll. Somewhere else glass shattered and women were crying out from windows flung open to the night. Through back-alleys and shadowed yards they fled, led by u

@Thor101 well, yes, I see your point, but all of them ... the 6 different groups ... have gone their separate ways. It is only by chance that those three groups met at the deep junction ... but we will catch up with those who are still missing shortly though, I am sure! 🙂

-- Chapter Fifteen -- The alarm rose even before they were clear of the dungeon halls, and well before Septimus and his men had galloped back into the castle courtyard. A horn blast – sharp, furious and unmistakable – tore through the stone and echoed along passageways, followed by shouts and the rush of feet, boots on stone floors. Even those in the depths of the castle dungeons heard the shrill echoes of the horns. The bodies of the guards had apparently been found. The prisone
