  1. Thank you @Summerabbacat. Plenty more to come, so make sure your hayfever meds are on hand for the next few chapters

    Chapter 1

Most enjoyable! Thank you! We have a politician here named Barnaby, and he looks a bit like a Capybara . . . though nowhere near as cute, or as smart, as your Barnaby 😁
  3. @Ivor Slipper thank you. I thought so too. I've been saving that one for a while! lol
  4. @Lynx003 oh, believe me, there is quite a bit that is yet to be revealed! Matt had no idea he had a son. Levi had no idea who his dad was. But there are still a few spanners to be thrown in the works.
  5. @centexhairysub oh yes, so many ways in which things can go wrong. Here's hoping that the road ahead won't be too rough!
  6. @weinerdog let's just say that all will be revealed . . . eventually . . . as father and son get to know each other. There is a lot of ground to cover! 🙂
  7. -- Chapter 2 -- Coming from his parents, the name hit hard. What was happening here? Jesus, it had been years since he’d even thought of her, let alone spoken her name. He saw an image of her in his mind. A beautiful girl who had once meant everything to him. He saw a girl he’d held hands with at a bus stop, a girl he’d said things to that he had thought he had meant at the time; and should have said other things to as well. She was his first, for many things, but then things had change
  8. Life is filled with surprises. We are constantly reminded that we are at the mercy of the universe; from the people we meet, to the events that shape us, to the places we find ourselves in. If we are among the lucky ones we will find our place in the world, and someone to share it with, and life will be sweet. But even then, everything is subject to change, and we either roll with the flow, or find ourselves fighting against the tide, because you just never know what might come at you from out of the blue.
  9. -- Chapter 1 -- Life is filled with surprises. From our first breath, to our last, as each of us travel this long and winding road. If we are among the lucky ones we will find our place in the world, and someone to share it with, and life can be sweet. But even then, everything is subject to change. We either roll with the flow, or find ourselves fighting against the tide, because you just never know what might come at you from out of the blue. As the sun slowly rose and touched the hou
  10. @Summerabbacat ummm .... no .... sorry, not a Monolith in sight for Out of the Blue .... but thanks for the tip! I might save it for later!
  11. @Summerabbacat yeah... more, more, more! 😋 Well, not right now, but you'll figure it out as we go along! 😉
  12. -- Chapter Twenty-one -- One quiet afternoon in November, Toby came over after school. He was growing up so fast, and was really filling out his blue school shirt and grey shorts these days; I could only hope that he was being careful, because in this town, good-looking teens could easily attract unwarranted attention – especially those who might not be as wise about the world around them as others. It was just the two of us on the back verandah, watching some vibrantly-coloured
  13. @Ivor Slipper no, not this lad, but he will be a main character in the next one. Traditions is set in 2019 / 2020. The next story is called Out of the Blue (actually set in 2017) and is the follow on from A Good Place (actually set in 2011). It took a bit of jigging about to get everything to line up! lol You might be thinking of Aaron's kid brother, Zack, in A Good Place
  14. @Summerabbacat poor Ernie!
  15. @Lynx003 thank you. And you'll be finding out some more about the boy on the bike soon enough! Patience my friend!
  16. @Summerabbacat it's the Oxley Highway that runs between Walcha and Wauchope. And it's Thunderbolts Way that runs Walcha - Gloucester - Newcastle.
  17. "While this one appears to be winding down; I am sure there will be another coming around the bend." @centexhairysub oh, absolutely! And it will answer some of the questions already raised here.
  18. Fantasy Glades was at Port Macquarie I think. It even had a Snow White and the Seven Dwarves cottage, if I remember correctly. Yeah, Timbertown was at Wauchope. I was there on the weekend actually ... it was all sold off last year some time.
  19. @Summerabbacat works for me! I can see Trinity doing a Shirley and Liza tribute show! Oh, and I heard the other day that the Big Bannana has been moved . . . or is going to be moved, or something! All those places I visited as a kid . . . Fantasy Glades, the Big Bannana, even Timbertown ... all gone or going! What's becoming of this world! Boo-hoo! BTW ... that song is EPIC! I love it!
  20. @dboggs9700 well, the whole thing about these Thompsonville stories is that they are mostly linked together in one way or another, so even if a story does get wrapped up, you will most likely pick up the threads in another one. It's always a conundrum as to when exactly I wrap one up, but sometimes I just get to a point where that just seems right!
  21. @Summerabbacat "fruit fly" ????? that's a new one on me! Instant classic! hahaha!
  22. @Summerabbacat very fitting!
  23. -- Chapter Twenty -- Before we knew it, the night of Trinity de la Creme and the Sisters of Divine Disgrace finally arrived in Macquarie Harbour, and of course everything went to hell! One of the performers was running forty minutes late, stuck in traffic on the highway. What was even worse, the missing performer was also bringing the main trunk with half the show’s costumes and props. Panic levels were rising fast. Backstage was pure chaos. Feathers, sequins, and stressed-out que
  24. I was in my teens, and Dad and I used to piss ourselves laughing, while Mum (a very straight Catholic) would be disgusted! There was also Benny Hill and Dick Emery ... Benny was OK, but I wasn't a fan of Dick ... or at least that Dick! LOL
  25. So, when I went searching for it, the next thing that came up was this..... Man, I use to love Dave Allen! hahah
