    Closed environments. No matter how much recirculation and filtering, smells will always permeate the spaces. In this case, the station does large amounts of machinery work that ends up producing burnt oil smells. Not much different than walking into a machine shop. Even walking into a person's home you would be able to detect a scent, unique to them. This is just a heavier scent that can be smelled throughout the station. Very heavy filtration could remove it, but that costs credits, therefore a loss of profits. For a realistic example, take a deep breath the next time you board an aircraft. Same principle. Years ago, when you could smoke onboard, you would eventually smell it throughout the entire aircraft.

    I priced it out at between 4 and 6 thousand. Once you hire the book cover made, decent editing yada, yada, yada. It ends up being pricy. The thought now is to advance the age to 18. Meaning at this book. Marc would be in his mid-twenties. The market for Sci-Fi is smaller. LGBTQ Sci-Fi even smaller yet, but they are dedicated markets. All thoughts for the future.

    Wow. 93000 words is a long novelle. Wonder how hard that was to edit unless it is written like mine are with a writing program that allows me to write just scenes and then with a push of a button have it spit out as a chapter or combined chapters as a book. Keeping around 30 chapters means a published book about 6-7 hours of reading time. Which would be, once I actually have a formal rewrite and edit, perfect for publication. That will be years down the road as I don't have the funds for it at the moment. ☹️

    @ReaderPaul and @wenmale64 Originally yes, but I pushed it up a little by adding in some extra trainings and jumping a few months to burn time. At this point he is just approaching twenty. As for the mysteries to be solved... most of that comes out before the end of this book and book 5... which was once part of book 4. May be again if I just run this out to 60-70 chapters or so. Editorial Addition: P.S. - People skills needing polish... That's Adam's job. Marc just provides the Battleship Diplomacy side of governance.
