    Chapter 13

Ironically, I wasn't even living in Baltimore when we wrote Breaking Masks. It's a fun rom-com with shifting perspectives that really finishes Jake's story.

    Chapter 13

    It is spawning season, apparently.

    Chapter 13

Yeah, Jake is sort of a tragic character in many ways. He has a full story arc, but it's spread out over multiple books (and one collab with @Dabeagle that we'll have to update and repost...if he's up for it).

    Chapter 13

There are a lot of fun characters to write in this book. Finn is definitely one of them. And I've known quite a few people like him, too. 🤣
  5. Early the next morning, we set off for home. When we got back to the office, Novak ordered me to forget the case for the rest of the weekend and relax. I didn't argue. I felt like I needed a little time for myself. When I got home, I found Kane lying on his bed reading a magazine. He glanced up as I came in. "Did you talk to Adam when you came in?" "No. I didn't see him, so I just came up here to drop off my bag. Why?" "Judy and Jake are in town to settle on a house. App

    Chapter 12

It just occurred to me that I never posted the old book trailer for this book (back before it went out of print). Enjoy! All Lost Things Book Trailer

You won't have to wait long to find out.

    Chapter 12

The beach house is safe... for now... 😉
  10. “Finnegan Byrnes,” Marco replied. Wait. What? "Who?" I was confused. "Finnegan? You know, that weird kid who wears elf ears sometimes?" "Uh...no." I couldn’t place him, and you would have thought that would be memorable. Marco shrugged. "He's a couple of grades behind you." "Do you know how to get in touch with him?" "Uh, no," he said, wrinkling his nose. "Why would I know that? I just told you he's weird." "Caleb is weird too, but that didn't stop you fro

    Chapter 11

The next chapter comes out tomorrow morning, so the cliffhanger is, at least, a short one. And Adam will be okay. That gets (mostly) resolved in the next chapter as well.

    Chapter 11

There's always more... It's an abundant resource.
  13. Micah Gerber was still on my mind as I drove home from work that afternoon. I was fairly certain he'd been flirting with me, but part of me wondered if I was just reading too much into it. Maybe he was just using me to get a scoop. Or maybe he wanted a scoop of me. Those thoughts were still running through my head as I pulled into the driveway and turned off my car. I opened the front door of the house only to be greeted by an exuberant Steve, who grabbed me in a bear hug and swun

    Chapter 10

@Summerabbacat @drsawzall You guys have some great theories, including some I wish I'd thought of! Have you considered writing mysteries? LOL

    Chapter 10

IT WAS A PHASE, OKAY? 🤣 I was just very into those names when I was writing these books.
  20. Novak was sitting at my desk when I entered the office the next morning. I was surprised to see him, considering that I'd had to use my key to open the door, which was usually unlocked if Novak was in. He tapped a long, skinny cardboard box sitting on the desk. "If you're going to be going around asking questions, these might come in handy." "What is it?" "Open it and see." I lifted the lid to find the box filled with business cards. I gave Novak a confused look before slidin

    Chapter 9

I think there was a brief comment in Reap the Whirlwind that mentioned that Eve felt some regret over her actions after losing Kane as well, and they had made some progress toward reconciliation. Don't worry, though. Kane won't be gone for long. I'll admit that the house played a much bigger role in an earlier version of this book. The last time it was published, however, I had an excellent editor who suggested that subplot distracted from the main story line, and since it was basically the C-plot of the book, he recommended I remove it. I loved the story though, so I brought it back as a short story called In the Angel's Keeping. It'll will follow after the conclusion of All Lost Things. You can think of it as a direct sequel to this story. Thank you! I promise there are some real clues mixed in amongst all the red herrings...but that's all I'll say.

Thank you so much! Glad you're enjoying it. The next chapter will be out soon.

    Chapter 9

I love the Knives Out movies, so that's a huge compliment! I was also a big fan of The Residence on Netflix recently. I love a quirky detective!
  24. I managed to stay in the office all day on Friday. I returned a couple of calls from the day before, answered the phone, and organized my notes about my interviews with Travis Haynes, Mrs. Fields, and Nadine. I spent a lonely Friday night watching TV by myself. Kane was out on a date — as he was most Friday nights, despite his claims of a dry spell — Adam was working in the den, and Steve was at the B&B. I found myself really missing Asher, although I couldn’t be sure if I missed him or
