Don't worry, he tells Novak. 😊

Thank you!

@Summerabbacat @drsawzall You guys have some great theories, including some I wish I'd thought of! Have you considered writing mysteries? LOL

IT WAS A PHASE, OKAY? 🤣 I was just very into those names when I was writing these books.

Novak was sitting at my desk when I entered the office the next morning. I was surprised to see him, considering that I'd had to use my key to open the door, which was usually unlocked if Novak was in. He tapped a long, skinny cardboard box sitting on the desk. "If you're going to be going around asking questions, these might come in handy." "What is it?" "Open it and see." I lifted the lid to find the box filled with business cards. I gave Novak a confused look before slidin

I think there was a brief comment in Reap the Whirlwind that mentioned that Eve felt some regret over her actions after losing Kane as well, and they had made some progress toward reconciliation. Don't worry, though. Kane won't be gone for long. I'll admit that the house played a much bigger role in an earlier version of this book. The last time it was published, however, I had an excellent editor who suggested that subplot distracted from the main story line, and since it was basically the C-plot of the book, he recommended I remove it. I loved the story though, so I brought it back as a short story called In the Angel's Keeping. It'll will follow after the conclusion of All Lost Things. You can think of it as a direct sequel to this story. Thank you! I promise there are some real clues mixed in amongst all the red herrings...but that's all I'll say.

Thank you so much! Glad you're enjoying it. The next chapter will be out soon.

I love the Knives Out movies, so that's a huge compliment! I was also a big fan of The Residence on Netflix recently. I love a quirky detective!

I managed to stay in the office all day on Friday. I returned a couple of calls from the day before, answered the phone, and organized my notes about my interviews with Travis Haynes, Mrs. Fields, and Nadine. I spent a lonely Friday night watching TV by myself. Kane was out on a date — as he was most Friday nights, despite his claims of a dry spell — Adam was working in the den, and Steve was at the B&B. I found myself really missing Asher, although I couldn’t be sure if I missed him or

Entirely too true.

We have been on a very lo We've been experiencing a very long stretch of temps hovering well above 36ºC with humidity between 70-80%. That's plenty (and much hotter than it used to be here). A friend of mine with similar heritage once said, "Our people were made for the mists," and I've thought about that every summer since... This is how I feel: It's too damn hot!

I absolutely love Mrs. Fields. She's based loosely on my own grandmother (though, thankfully, she was never in such dire conditions). But I laughed out loud at that last sentence concerning Nadine's breath. You nailed the geography! A+ Thank you! I am fond of Nadine. She's very fun to write. I am practically a vampire, so I'm afraid I can't relate to sun lovers, especially in this heat, but I will say stay safe out there!

Trouble always finds Killian...

Excellent deductions and theories. I can't confirm or deny your theories, but your thoughts on Adam and Killian are spot on!

Working in an empty office the next day felt strange. I'd been there alone before when Novak was out on a case or running errands, but realizing I'd be on my own for the rest of the week was different. On one hand, it felt good to think Novak trusted me enough to leave me in charge for that long. On the other hand, I wasn't quite sure I trusted myself. Not that I didn't know what I was doing — answering phones and taking messages isn't exactly brain surgery — but I really wanted to get back

Don't all (okay, most) eighteen-year-olds think they are invincible and always right? And as the owner of a car that could (and should) have historic plates, let's be nice to Bessie. Those old cars were built to last...

I did not become a parent, but I do have the benefit of age. LOL

It's funny...when I wrote this originally twenty-some years ago, I was still very young, not far removed from the painful process of asserting your adulthood to overprotective (and maybe a little controlling) parents, so Adam was very much the bad guy in that scene. When I was rewriting it this year, I realized that, while they both have valid points, Killian was definitely the stroppy cow, so I rewrote it and added the scene with Steve. LOL Teenagers...am I right?

I decided to stop by Asher's house on my way home and let him know that Novak and I were taking the case. As I pulled into the Davises' driveway, I was surprised to see a "For Sale" sign in the front yard of the house next door...my former home. I wondered why Mom hadn't mentioned that she was putting it on the market. Maybe she thought it would upset me, but I didn't exactly have good memories of the place. It had the neglected look of a house that had sat vacant for too long. I hoped

I'm very glad you didn't end up a Frankencow. That would have been an udder disaster! But maybe you could have milked it for some extra attention...
-
Judy will be back soon...and I can neither confirm nor deny your suspicions concerning Killian deal with Novak. (He totally breaks his word...but you knew that. This is reckless, impetuous Killian we're talking about...)
-
I'll just lay the rumors to rest and say that yes, Asher and Caleb are dating.
-
Killian makes lots of mistakes, but he (mostly) learns from them. 😆 Thank YOU!
