    Dazed and Confused

Thanks @mikedup! I am glad you are liking it! Careful what you wish for! But, seriously, thank you for the encouragement. Much love!

    Dazed and Confused

Good to see you @peter rietbergen! While this Monday is getting long for sure, it is a convergence of many pasts and a catalyst for so many characters and futures. I think I could spend 10 more chapters digging into the characters, telling how they got here and setting the stage for where they are going. I won’t though (one more chapter should get us through [the day] I think). 🤣 Glad you are along for the ride!

    Dazed and Confused

Perhaps that should have been the chapter title! There were many things in your comment to respond to, but I’ll just say thanks for being so thoughtful and engaged (and thanks for solving my storyline problems!). Much love!

    Dazed and Confused

Mission accomplished! We will all find out… eventually. Thank you for reading and responding!

    Dazed and Confused

Thanks for the thoughtful response! I love that both Sandra and Roger are dealing with foundational beliefs that need to change. They obviously have different journey but find themselves is a similar place, trying to overcome to become, if you will. Much love! Go Team Casio!
  6. “We’re both in new territory here, Thomas.” Now that the trial was over and he was outside the safety of the courtroom, Roger was finding difficult to cope with whatever it was his life had suddenly become. He knew he was doing the right thing. He felt a deep need to protect Thomas beyond the trial, but he didn’t know how to move forward. Roger’s own life experiences had left him with painful memories and often debilitating self-doubt. He had been wrestling with those doubts from

    All In

Good to see you! Chapter 5 is in moderation land as I type.
  9. Hey Gary! I’ve thought about your comment a few times since you left but never said anything. Thank you for the affirmation. I, like Joshua, spend a lot of time in my brain. There are always emotions and ideas to be explored and things that can be learned in the large and small moments of life. Knowing how deeply to develop a character is tricky for me. I want to know everything! But how much patience will readers have for the exploration? Much love!
  10. As a writer, I am finding that sometimes autobiographical elements find their way into certain character’s lives. Joshua has an extremely active mind. It is hard to remain present and his subconscious he has found ways to activate his mind while remaining in the moment. I would be lying if I said I completely understand why, but I can personally attest to habitual counting without debilitating OCD is a thing. I am happy that the ending and the change in Joshua came through strong. He became content with himself and Marcus in ways that allowed him to just be rather than think. As you say, a remarkable achievement…. Much love!

    Quite Contrary

Thanks for reading and responding! It is amazing what accepting and resolving your identity can do for mental health. Particularly when affirmed by someone important life a partner, spouse, family member, or friend. This is my favorite part of coming out tales, including my own. 🥰

    Resolved?

Yes, it may be a few days before the next chapter, but this is ultimately Roger’s story which is far from told. 💔
  13. empath

    Resolved?

True, but Radcliffe had already checked out as a lawyer by that point (says the storyteller who is definitely not a lawyer).

Surprise! Thanks to @wildone, @Cia, @Myr and all of the other site admins! You all are awesome!
  16. “Good afternoon, Mr. Miller.” The friendly tone sounded more predatory than it had when directed at the medical examiner earlier in the day. “Ah, Hello.” Charlie was immediately caught off guard by the words that were so contrary to the looks he had been receiving previously from his nephew’s attorney. “You obviously cared a lot for your brother. I also am sorry for your loss.” Roger paused for several seconds, letting the unexpected civility echo through the man’s thoug
  17. All good from my POV. I even picked up a few new readers with the different publish time. Thank you for all you are doing! I imagine managing the queue is a task! I appreciate all of the admins!

If, you wait a day you won’t spoil the outcome of the trial, but I know that will be difficult.

    All In

Thanks for reading @Terry P and @Ivor Slipper! We're at the mercy of the software now. 😉 Tomorrow, after it's approved I'll be allowed to publish it. I wrote chapters 3 and 4 together. I just had to know as well.

Thanks for reading and responding @Summerabbacat! I love reading your reactions! Chapter 4 is written, so you won't have to wait too long to read what happens next.

Man and teen sat in silence as Melissa efficiently displayed the contents of the pizza box and large canvas bag. Thomas’ armed escort confirmed that she had brought only items appropriate for lunch, including paper plates and plastic silverware with which to eat it. Roger’s administrative assistant escorted the officer out of the small conference room, his hands full with a plate containing several large slices of Chicago’s famous deep-dish. As soon as the door closed, Roger slid t

    Defensive Maneuvers

Thank you all for the responses! I am working hard to get chapter 3 right. I hope to have it posted before the weekend, but we’ll see. It is a pivotal part of the story, and I want it to be great! Hang in there, it is coming soon. Much love!

    Defensive Maneuvers

I think you are correct on both counts.
  24. Monday, June 22nd, 1992 He should have been tired, but Roger was finding it difficult to sit still. He was back in courtroom seven, but this time he was early. He had worked almost non-stop all weekend preparing for this trial. He had been to visit Thomas both Saturday and Sunday. They were both as ready as they were going to be. There were significantly more spectators in the gallery then there had been on Friday. He wasn’t surprised. The local, state, and even some na
