    Chapter 50

Thanks. I'm hoping I can let this chapter put an end to the miserableness that was 9.11

    Chapter 50

A little extra Elton. I love it.

    Chapter 50

September 28, 2001 I had to do this. I knew it would be hell, but it was something I had to do. I wondered if my battered psyche would be able to handle it. I stood in front of the mirror, tying my tie, and remembered when I’d done that right before my wedding. Robbie had been here, and he’d pushed my hands aside and tied it for me. He wasn’t here to help me this time. I looked around at our room and everything in it reminded me of him. I’d flown down last night and

    Chapter 49

Thanks for the info! The die is cast, so we're going to assume they have co-ed boarding. Last time I was in Upland/Claremont, the smog was not a problem. It's good to hear there was improvement from the 60s/70s!

    Chapter 49

You're right. One more chapter ought to close things out. Not. LOL. I'm sure I'll find a few more dramatic tidbits to toss in.

    Chapter 49

We don't know the details on Ethan, and why he's remained separated from his mother. It's probably a good idea to remember that this whole thing has been managed and set up by Elizabeth (it has her fingerprints all over it) so that may explain why Ethan's been on lockdown.

    Chapter 49

As I was writing this chapter, I had a wry grin on my face, knowing how you'd be so annoyed at Tony's reappearance. It's how I amuse myself. :-) Claremont is nice, except for the smog, as long as you're in the hills. Besides, who'd look for Ethan in the Inland Empire? What a great place to hide!

    Chapter 49

Great review! Thanks! Some thoughts:1. Don't listen to Jeremy. ;-) 2. Wade is awesome. 3. Will is helping Tony along, but the magical guy he thought Tony was is being replaced by the reality of who Tony is. I think Will has the right idea here...taking a wait and see approach. 4. Emotional: yes.
  9. Mark Arbour

    Chapter 49

Good way to describe Tony. I'll say this about chapter 50: everytime I re-read it, I cry. And I'm an asshole.

    Chapter 49

Well, I try not to repeat storylines, so I don't think I'll go there with Rick. Rick is probably dealing with his own issues on this whole coming out thing, and he's probably dealing with that by throwing walls up around him and Tony.

    Chapter 49

Thanks for the excellent review! I think that's a great way to characterize Tony!

    Chapter 49

You are correct about all those things.

    Chapter 49

I think that in the back of Will's mind, sleeping with Tony was rewarding BECAUSE he was with Rick, and Will wants to piss that douchebag off. JP and Stef have a very mature love. They're secure in it, and they're solid partners. They're not in that lovey-dovey stage, so they may seem unaffectionate, but it's more that they're comfortable with each other, and confident in their relationship.

    Chapter 49

Sigh. It would be nice if you decided to do that research and raise these points when the chapter was still in beta. That would be the logical and helpful course of action. But I have a plan, so don't worry.

    Chapter 49

Thanks for the review! I love this line, because it is so true: Awesome sex gets exponentially less awesome when one's partner turns out to be a wishy washy douche bag. I think we're being a little hard on Tony. He's clearly struggling with his sexuality, and he's leaving a lot of collateral damage in his wake, but on the other hand, he has a lot of crap to deal with, especially because of his father.

    Chapter 49

    Well thank you!
  17. This is why I have beta readers, so they can catch this stuff and do their research before the chapter is posted.
  18. IMHO, the Inland Empire is analogous to the East Bay (Oakland, Hayward, et. al). There are really nice areas in the hills and foothills (which is where Webb is located, as are the Claremont colleges) and really crappy areas in the flatlands. But it is like a big sack that accumulates smog, so there's that. Claremont, CA The Webb School.

    Chapter 49

September 23, 2001 “Dude, I still can’t believe it,” Matt said. “You have a half-brother.” “Sounds like it. A mysterious one,” I said. “I don’t suppose you got any info on him?” I asked Sean. “I’m very thorough,” he said, with his killer smile. “We’ll see about that,” I replied, smiling back. “Your father had a long affair with his mother,” Sean said. “About eight years ago, your mother found out about it and for

    Chapter 48

So you're saying that Ethan is genetically destined to be slutty. Makes sense. :-) I'm glad you liked the chapter, even sans Will. He's in the next one.
  21. Mark Arbour

    Chapter 68

So many details in here, but as has been noted, the flock is slowly but surely coming home. Well, except for Humphreys. :-(
  22. Mark Arbour

    Chapter 68

Yep...kind of like a world-wide check in for all of our characters. :-) I think that accounting for the treasure is more important than the pipes, but we'll assume our young Irish peer remembered them. ;-)
  23. You put it so succinctly. The Admiralty is treating Granger as if he were a commodore, commanding a squadron of two ships, which is both reasonable, and true. It makes complete sense that they'd award him the flag officer's share. On the other hand, for ships operating outside the orders of an admiral (as Bacchante was), the flag officer's share would be allocated to the captain. So what the Admiralty did is technically correct, but I think that if Granger were there, he would probably be inclined to split the other 50,000 pounds. So glad to have you with us!
  24. Well, I'm not exactly on schedule, but I'm doing my best.
  25. Mark Arbour

    Chapter 68

I'm so glad you liked the chapter! Thanks for posting a review! They said they'd parole Granger, they just didn't say when. Hopefully it's soon enough that Talleyrand wins on their deal. And weren't the Cardinals just amazing tonight!?!!! World Series, Baby!!!
