  1. Brad Renfro. Man, that one hurt. I'm really glad that Wes Bentley (who I ABSOLUTELY LOVED in American Beauty) was able to get out of it.
  2. Will balances that out though by being fiercely loyal to his loved ones and willing to go to bat for them even when he's pissed off at them.

    Throuple

Chapter 35 -When Will, Travis, and Austin get it on. "All Night Long" by Lionel Richie -When Travis and Marie put on a show for the paps after she explains her reasoning for being the beard. "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" by Frankie Valli
  4. Could he work for Wade, too? Its been so long since I read Bloodlines that I no longer have a clear picture of what you wrote him to look like.
  5. It's funny because I don't even read Bridgemont but I was thinking Cavendish, too. LOL.
  6. I think the star of Young Washington is really cute in that British boy way. Any fancast ideas, folk? I would lean towards him having to be a Bridgemont series fancast over a CAP fancast, but open to ideas. Mark has written so many characters as having this particular hair color (brown with red highlights) that he would have to work as someone. LOL
  7. I was looking at this current new hunky actor getting pushed (this time for the Amazon romantic drama Every Year After) and it occurred to me that Michael Bradlow actually looks really close to how I pictured Joey, Carullo's doomed firefighter boyfriend that Will sees just before he dies in 9/11. Dude has even played a firefighter on T.V.

I noticed a hot jock with thick unruly brown hair, a nice tan, and puppy dog friendly eyes. Shocking, right? All that's missing is a lacrosse stick. How was Ryan Crawford supposed to look, anyway? I just pictured him as a friendly frat boy type with a shady side. Hmm, I thought he was a set one but hmm. The new Draco Malfoy aka Lox Pratt as kid Jeremy, and bleached to the gills Lucky Blue Smith as the adult one?

1.) The Sprouse boys are 1990's/2000's child stars best known for starring on the Suite Life of Zack and Cody on the Disney Channel. It was a very popular show for them. They also had a role as Ross's son on the mega-hit show Friends. They both took breaks from the movie industry to go back to school and lead more normal lives. They both came back to the entertainment industry, although neither became A-list movie stars as adults. (I don't think they care, though. Trust that those boys have plenty of money for the rest of their lives.) 2.) One of them, Dylan Sprouse, is my fancast for JJ/Jeremy Schluter. Basically how I picture Jeremy Schluter to look, except he would have blonder hair than Dylan's natural dark honey blond hair. 3.) Entourage was a 2000's drama that aired on the HBO channel. It followed a guy who was a famous actor. As he's famous, he gets what is called an entourage. Basically, those are people who hang around someone that is a celebrity but they themselves aren't famous. However, because they're hanging around someone famous, they get the benefits that the famous person gets by hanging out with them. Occasionally, someone in an entourage will manage to hook a role and start their own climb to celebrity. 4.) This ties back into my comments about the "entourage" that the Sprouse boys have. An actor I mentioned who is part of the "entourage" that the Sprouse boys have- his name is Tanner Zagarino, has been grinding his way trying to get into the acting world since he was a teenager. You would definitely not know who he is, as he's not famous. However, he recently booked a role on a popular Amazon series called The Summer I Turned Pretty, which helped him book a role on a Hulu football series. So the guy is on his way! 5.) I was mentioning this guy as a possible fancast (meaning how I see the character) for one of Mark's characters, Ryan Crawford. (I think it's Ryan Crawford?) They had a vibe that I thought was similar.

I was thinking they were weird in the hipster sense, but yeah. They both seem to be making a concerted effort to avoid the cliches of child stars. They're pretty quiet on social media for the most part. Although there is this guy in their entourage that I follow on insta, Tanner Zagarino. He's kind of like if Johnny Drama from Entourage was a real person. Dude recently got his break playing a frat boy with a heart of gold on the last season of the Summer I Turned Pretty. I kind of had him as a fancast for the loveable hanger on to the Schluter clan- was his name Ryan Crawford? Kind of shady but not shady enough for them to cut ties with him. And just really damn likeable.

Funnily enough, my Jeremy fancast actually ran a mead brewery for a bit. Yes, mead. The Sprouse twins are so fucking weird, as are most child stars. LOL I think Dylan was going through his "I want to be relatable phase!" before he went back to Hollywood and started churning out straight to streaming action movies with his buddy Mr. Cuba Gooding Junior Junior. I've always kind of seen them as the male answer to the Olsen twins, just not quite as clearly fucked up by Hollywood as they were.

No, he's hovering in a corner sipping on his sangria. After some Googling, I discovered that ultimate frisbee was developed in New Jersey in the late 1960's. That explains so much. (Delaware is constantly invaded by New Jerseyans for one thing or another.)

    Making Up

When I was Jeremy's age, I witnessed college aged guys have absolute meltdowns over intramural ultimate frisbee. Let me repeat, ultimate frisbee. Let's be real here. Will misses Travis. He also didn't really have long to do the "boyfriend" thing with Travis before they split for opposite coasts. So here comes someone who is a similar type to Travis (beautiful blond surfer/volleyball type from Southern California) and Viola. Will got someone to fill the Travis void in his life and he kind of just lied to himself about what he was actually doing to Austin. He could have treated Austin like a hookup buddy (we know he's more than capable of that) but didn't because he missed his boyfriend. So he got someone else to play that role without actually committing to the recast.

    The Makeover

As Mark kind of explained it to me, it was kind of just a logistical nightmare to balance where Jeremy was in his career, his enemies/friends in fellow skaters, and his competitions with keeping him as an active character on the canvas. I also think Mark had this overall arc for Jeremy where he kind of forced him out of the protective cocoons, so to speak, that he builds for himself. Skating was big with that. In any event, I've really enjoyed Jeremy's romantic comedy adventures in New York.

    Ambien

I don't think it's remotely possible for anyone who had the upbringing Will had to turn out normal, especially if you were treated as the Golden Boy who can do no wrong and everyone wants to get turn to for advice. Darius SEEMS like he's normal, but we also don't see much of him or know what his neurotic tendencies are.

    Ambien

Adam Phillips, aka Cross-Currents, said once that he tried cocaine and liked it so much he never did it again. (He has ADD like Travis does.) Like it scared Adam how much he liked it that he never touched it again. I can't even imagine the amount of cocaine stories you have as a Los Angeles lawyer who runs in affluent circles. LOL

    Ambien

Chapter 33 -When Travis plays volleyball and draws a crowd due to his fame. "We Be Burning" by Sean Paul -When Travis pops the Ambien that Kendo got for him, and he sleeps like a baby. "Smile Like You Mean It" by the Killers -When Austin thinks that Will is breaking up with him. (Dude, you were never his boyfriend!) "Walk Away" by Kelly Clarkson I don't know if it's because I was entering my 20's then but there's been so much fun in re-exploring 2004-2006 music for this story.

    Moving

David James Elliot makes a good Luke fancast, if he's supposed to have dark hair. If he's supposed to be blond, I pictured him as Teddy Sears. I lean towards thinking that Luke is supposed to be a blond. Then again, Greg was blond so maybe Luke was supposed to be a brunette to balance things out during the Land Whore.

    Beard

That's super-not Will's style, at all. He believes in psychological warfare, not physical threats. Like what Sebastian posthumously does to Katherine at his memorial is much more Will.
  20. methodwriter85

    Beard

Chapter 32 -When Will and Marie talk about her decision to be in a lavender relationship to Travis. "Secret" by OMD -When Travis and Marie fully commit to the beard game by kissing for the cameras. "Breaking Free" by Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens Zac Efron was like a generational touchstone teen idol for that year. High School Musical was THAT big. I remember Facebook hate groups springing up around Zac Efron. LOL Then Robert Pattinson became a thing, and that was even bigger. Oh, god, I can't wait for Twilight. -When Will's friends roast the absolute shit out of their beautiful Granola Gladiator. "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt
  21. Chapter 30 -When T and Kendo are hanging out at a bar. "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers -When Kendo produces some sniffle snacks for Travis, and gets to kiss Travis. "Feel Good Inc." by Gorillaz -When Will is a good mood after a great game, and knowing that he's going to travel back home and see Travis. "Pump It" by Black Eyed Peas -When Will and Marie arrive back to California, and excitement for the weekend. "Wake Up" by Hilary Duff
  22. Travis comes off as the kind of guy who desperately wants to convince himself he's okay because his entire life has been built on building the facade of the perfectly likeable laconic surfer boy. It kind of reminds me of how when coke first became big in the 70's people thought it wasn't addicting for the reasons you outlined. It's more of a psychological thing than actual body thing the way heroin or alcohol is. Anyway, my Kendo fancast had a moment where people thought he may have been coked up. Coked up, or just pure excitement? If there's anyone I would expect to know cocaine tweaking when they see it, it would be a lawyer who services rich people in Los Angeles. LOL (Or in Mark's case, anyone who attended an affluent liberal arts college in the 1980's.)
  23. Ah, okay. I don't think though that Will is aware that it's a somewhat regular habit for Travis. He might just think it's something he might do once in awhile at a party.
  24. The revelation that Travis does cocaine enough that he "has a guy" was an interesting one. We didn't really have any indication in The Gap Year that Travis did it, right? I like the idea that Will doesn't know that about Travis because they were still in the honeymoon phase in the Gap Year. It makes so much sense- coke is supposed to get rid of social anxiety.
  25. Has anyone watched the Obsession movie yet? I keep thinking the male lead, Michael Johnston, would make a really good Mouse. He even has a squeaky voice. (Mouse was Brad's classmate and later JP's boyfriend in the 80's who died of AIDS sometime between Man in Motion and A Summer Love.) My OG Mouse fancast is Kyle Gallner but Mark rejected him. LOL
