I really like this series. I still enjoy reading it, in fact more and more :-). It's so relaxing to read them. And the "family concept" is really great thing. This was a very pleasant chapter (for me, not for Stefan though...;-) ).

You did it again! And without a poll! And that poor lad had in the last one like one vote? Maybe two? :'-( But on the other hand - a big chapter as usual! Great work!

Bridgemont Series - Technical Points
paya replied to Mark Arbour's topic in Mark Arbour Fan Club's Topics
Maybe it depends who is using the titles. I am sure that the Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabelle of Castille were the Most Catholic Majesties (or sometimes Most Catholic Couple) but I don't know about the Bourbons in Spain. What I wanted to say - if you were a highflown Spaniard general who wants to show off at some English admiral you would certainly use "Most Catholic Majesty" just only to superordinate your King to the British one. But I think it was just a way Spanish diplomats spoke about their King those times. -
And for the If it fits story - it seems that Stefan's big heart has another soul to help to! And I'm still awaiting a visitor from Mexico! It also seems that this story won't be so short as the Summer Love, great! :-) Enjoying the ride...

That was meant just to ease the orientation for the readers. When I read 1968 I also wanted to read the opinions of other readers on this topic. And I would search for 1968 rather than If it fits... But in case of 1968 it's better to search the yahoo group, despite its almost 1800 messages... And to the second thing, it's better to wait and read it as it goes, it worked for me and I think for the others as well. The average human curiosity overwhelms everyone in the end and Land Whore is too much of a jump both in time and the story (other changes added up), so I wouldn't recommend skipping 1968. Wow... 4 months ago I wouldn't believe I'd say this! I was so... surprised with that twist. And angry. Sad. Maybe even disgusted. And more. SO many emotions - that really says something about the author's abilities... ;-)

Mark, maybe you should open a discussion for other stories as well so others who started reading later have a room to express themselves... But that would mean opening old wounds as well... ;-)

I hope I was wrong! But if I am right (then I can say "I knew it! I told you so!" ), I think JP can't be successful - in the long term I mean. ;-) I know you understand (I hope everyone does) and I appreciate your help - that is why I asked about Jason in the first place. So thanks again. :-) And enough of this fruitless discussion! :2hands:

kjames Well, I don't know if I understand right what you're trying to tell me, but I did read the whole series of the CAP from the beginning. I even started reading them like that because I found CAP at first and it was when Mark was issuing Be Rad I think. So I read the whole series and what I wanted to say was that with so many characters appearing and disappearing I finally lost track of some of them, like Jason. I just wanted to make sure if I guess rightly - I knew about Jason from CAP but I somehow forgot he met with Stefan (again) in Land Whore. Because there were more people trying to rip off Stefan. Anyway, is this setting up of Stefan something like psycho-hygiene or what? Why did Benjamin disappear so quickly? I just started to think about anouther kinky stuff that should keep JP attached to this dork and now he's gone. JP wouldn't pretend to have another boyfriend to send him off to Stefan and get back to Benjamin, would he? That would be nasty... and really kinky!

So it was him! Now the reference to his demons gets the right meaning... I just wondered if it is really that Jason who I thought ended up as a history teacher in Claremont. But what - this is like 179th episode of this saga and one can't remember everything... Who said we don't care? :-) We sure as hell know that if you want, you'll tell us sooner than everyone would expect ;-D We just have to sit comfortably and wait... ;-)
-
Who the F* is Jason? I thought that reading the whole saga from the beginning CAP to the end of these chapters will prevent me from misunderstandings but I got lost. I have an idea that Jason's roots are somewhere in the Land Whore and there was something like a business espionage on Stefan or something like that - is he that man that tried with some bi*ch to steal Stefan's papers? And the man, T.A. of JP in Chicago who became a history teacher in Claremont was J...what? That wasn't Jason as well? siiigh... These comebacks are getting more and more confusing. On the other hand, a very nice twist indeed! Very refreshing, just one-chapter long, no cliffhanger, but a lot of action. A very nice chapter!

Yay! I want a sequel too! Excellent story, very catching and the characters are GOOD... where do you get ideas for such good stories? :-)

The Wardroom - Who dies in Chapter 11?
paya replied to Mark Arbour's topic in Mark Arbour Fan Club's Topics
well, what for? :-) I have four possible candidates but no clue for the final decision... and three chapters is a lot (in Mark's measure Granger could be all around the world by chapter 10 ) Let's say Chilton. He'll be caught trying to bugger Travers. And Captains are not to be hanged (as Wilcox had already shown us). But it will be nasty. Or there is the other possibility, but that wouldn't be so disastrous to make a poll on it. ;-) -
Yeah! IT'S COMING! ;-D

I'm glad that the summer holidays are almost over already in chap. 4. :-) A summer is too short period of time for one Mark's story, so I'm looking forward to what he's prepared for us... ;-)
-
I hope you didn't take it bad, it was just they seemed somewhat similar to me. But it may be because of their attitude to the main character. ;-) And that they both want his lover. Hell, isn't that usual for soap opera villains? :-D
-
Great chapter! Really one of my favourites! Nice how Granger "got into the cot" well done! I really enjoyed reading the first part (not to say the other parts were bad... just as not as good ;-D) Why I have this feeling that I've already seen a character like Wilcox... I remember a guy who liked to manipulate people by abusing their weak sides... ;-) He ended up badly but until then he was a real pain in the ass... looking forward to next chap!

I think Greg is slowly developing into grousy Tonto style, maybe he could stand in for her :-)
-
God, I missed Jeff's cooing! And he does it the same way his father did! Thanks, Mark! Thank you VERY much! :-) One more thing... it's fine that the story goes on and I'll get used to a new narrator very quickly but if it is possible, I'd like more to keep in touch with Brad and Robbie as well - not only as a statistics of how many times they've had sex but more of their life story. Maybe sometimes the narrator can switch? ;-) I'll miss Brad's thoughts, he was very... close. And now when he's finally matured, he's gone from storytelling. Never mind, it's just this sentimental feeling, it will pass. :-)

That makes sense. I was just concerned about the flow of the time as I have no idea how long it took a Frigate to get from England to Gibraltar for example. So I don't exactly know when they got there. I try to imagine the progress of the events on the Continent on the background of the story to know where they are now, what's going to happen, where they will be, etc. That is why I need a date. :-) It does not have to be linked with news that get to the people on board, somebody just could keep a diary. Or Captain makes notes to some diary, doesn't he?
-
This is not a nautical screw-up - but there is absolutely no date in chapter 2, was that an intention?
-
Let's start another poll - how long will it take before Mr. Granger ends up in Captain's bed? ;-D (Guessing Mr. Travers' bed would be too easy... :-) )
-
it's OK at yahoo... (Claremont fully spelled) GOD! I'm really going to miss this story, even if Mark promised to continue, the pause will hurt. I really grew attached to the main characters. :-) But on the other hand with Mark's wits and writing skills we can look forward to the 1700s story. :-) Good work!
-
I THINK WE HAVE A WINNER. Even I didn't think it was Robbie. Well done. Well, what can I say? When you want to kill someone, I can tell you why and how you did it!
-
So now it's someone strange, hidden in the background? :-/ I don't really know about a lot of people who have money and hate against Robbie, Brad or JP's family overall... If it were French, there is Marcel's mother, then it could be Isidore's family, but none of them are supposed to have money. And what I really don't like is 'Deus ex machina' :-/ I hope that it's too late for somebody new to show up in MIM story as a new badass. :-/ Camborone? Injured vanity?? But why? This is not fair because Mark plays some game with us, a game that has new rules setting up while going and we just can't guess out of blank as new factors are coming up. :-/ I was somewhat disappointed with the new development of events.
