Chapter 37

Andy

Matt really didn’t want to hear about my sex with Ashton. I wouldn’t have wanted to hear about his sex with anyone else either, but I thought he deserved it because he wouldn’t be my boyfriend. But, I’ll have to admit that I was glad I wasn’t in a committed relationship because the sex with Ashton was hot, and it was exciting having sex in public. I was ready to do it again and suggested to Ashton at school that we hook up again. He liked the idea, and we agreed to go out to the pond. It wasn’t going to be as exciting as in the park, but it was outdoors and kind of in public if any of the kids at school decided to come out and swim.

Thomas and Colt told us at lunch that they were double-dating with Megan and Zoe on Saturday. Matt frowned and said, “What’s the world coming to now. First, Thomas is going out with Megan this Saturday and now you two are doubling. Did you guy break up or what?”

“Hell no,” Colt said. “Thomas couldn’t be a better boyfriend. He knew I wanted to have a chance to go out with a girl, so he agreed to double with me and Zoe.”

“Had you already asked her out?” Matt asked.

“Well, yeah, but instead of us going out by ourselves, we’re doubling.”

Matt rocked his head back and forth and rolled his eyes. “Sounds like Thomas just wants to keep an eye on you.”

“Matt, this is none of your business. What Colt and I do is our business. Stay out of it.”

“You know what, Thomas. You’re gay, and you’re going out with Megan when I want to go out with her. You have no intention of having it go further, but you are still going out with her, and when I asked her out, she told me she couldn’t go out with me because she was going out with you. I was a little pissed.”

“Matt, just because you can’t decide if you’re gay or straight or bi isn’t my problem,” Thomas said with irritation in his voice

“You know what, the term is LGBT because it includes lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender people. Yet, gays and lesbians act like being bisexual is a curse. I think it’s just because they’re jealous. Which brings me back to my point: why in the hell you and Colt are messing around with Megan and Zoe is beyond me. Of course, Thomas, it’s possible Colt is bi. How would you feel about that?”

“Matt, I don’t remember you being such an asshole,” Thomas said. “You used to be a nice guy, what’s happened?”

That took Matt back a bit. He was not used to anyone seeing him other than a nice easy-going guy.

“Well, uh…well…I don’t know. Do what you want,” he said as he stood up and walked out of the cafeteria.

“Damn,” Emily said. “He’s acting a bit strange. What’s up?”

“He likes Megan,” I said.

“That doesn’t excuse him from acting like an ass.”

I shook my head. “True, but I guess he didn’t expect Thomas to be his competition.”

Thomas rolled his eyes. “I’m not his competition. I don’t like Megan. We’re going out because of a bet Colt and I made with the girls. That’s it.”

I sighed in exasperation. “Well, you two are all screwed up. You don’t want to go out with Megan, Thomas but you are. Colt asks Zoe out after you win the bet and now you’re doubling. Are you guys crazy?”

“Listen,” Colt said. “We’re doubling because I want to actually go out on a date with a girl. Matt is right about the bisexual part. Let’s assume we’re bisexual. Should we be condemned for that? Is it any different than being gay or lesbian or transsexual? It’s just a classification. Thomas is nice enough to give me a chance to go out on a date with a girl, and that’s one of the reasons why I love him.”

Thomas smiled and grabbed a hold of Colt’s hand for a couple of seconds. Colt smiled at him.

“Okay,” I said. “Knock off the lovey-dovey stuff. I’m not too happy about Matt going out with Megan myself, but I decided I’m not going to wait around for him to decide whether he’s LGB or T.” That got a laugh out of everyone.

The timing couldn’t have been better because no sooner had I said that than Ashton came over to our table. “Hello, everyone.”

Nods and hellos went around the table. I scooted over. “Sit.”

He sat next to me and squeezed my hand.

“Is this your new squeeze?” Emily asked.

“New squeeze? Emily, you’re so old fashioned. Ashton is my FWB.”

“Your what?”

“You know. A friend with benefits.”

Alan gave me a look. “That was quick. What about Matt?”

“He’s a big boy. He can do what he wants. He’s going out with Megan on Sunday, taking seconds after Thomas goes out with her on Saturday.”

“You know what, Andy? You can be mean at times,” Emily said.

“I’m not being mean. He is. I’m just doing what a guy’s got to do.”

Emily looked at Ashton. “Does that mean you’re gay?”

“Yeah.”

“Are you Andy’s boyfriend?”

“Nope. Just friends.”

Emily kind of pissed me off. She and Alan acted all concerned about Matt, and no one seemed to give a shit about me. I turned to Ashton. “Let’s get out of here.”

He got up and followed me out the door where we ran into Matt sitting in the hall. He looked up. “Hi, Ashton. I heard you and Andy had a good time in the park yesterday.”

Ashton patted me on the back. “Yeah, Andy’s quite the sport. Maybe we’ll do it again today.”

“It’s none of my business. Have fun.” He stood. “I’ve got to go.”

Matt

Listening to Andy go on about everything he and Ashton did at the park pissed me off. He didn’t seem to care how it affected me. I tried to stop him, but he used our friendship to defend his going on and on about him and Ashton. My cock started to get hard just hearing him talk about it. Public sex might be hot, but I don’t think I could stay hard knowing we might get caught. I’d probably have a heart attack thinking that people would see us. Evidently, it didn’t keep Andy and Ashton from staying hard and getting off. Hell, I remember thinking I wish I was there to watch. Sometimes, I don’t know what’s the matter with me.

Andy and I had a lawn job on Saturday. I found myself thinking about the old days when I used to sneak looks at Andy’s toned body. He was still hot, but I’d had my hands all over that body and felt almost like I owned it after all the time we’d spent having sex. Bad thinking I know, because no one should feel like they own anyone. The whole thing was hard on me because I loved his body, and I loved Andy, but I couldn’t bring myself to commit to him or to anyone for that matter. Going out with Megan was something I felt I had to do. Sometimes we just don’t know why we feel like we have to do something. Maybe it wouldn’t go anywhere, but I was going to give it a try.

While we were working on the lawn, Andy said he and Ashton were getting together at the pond that afternoon. “I don’t want to hear about your exploits.”

He’s always clever. “What are you talking about? Is there something wrong with going out to the pond for a swim? The way you act, you make me think that you believe we’re going out there to fuck. You have a dirty mind.”

“Fuck you, Andy. Do what you want. Just don’t tell me about it.”

“We have an agreement. I get to tell you about Ashton, and you get to tell me about Megan. Although, I don’t think you’ll have much to tell.”

“What makes you think that Ashton is going to be exclusive to you? For all you know, he might have sex with me at the pond.”

Andy surprised me when he said, “Go for it.”

“I might. Hold onto your balls because this could be a wild ride.”

Andy packed up the equipment while I was still pulling weeds in the flowerbed.

“Sorry, Matt. I’ve gotta go. Ashton is waiting. Talk to you later.”

I just stood there ready to cry. What had I done with my life? What had I done to my relationship with Andy? It was all screwed up. But I’ve learned that change is never easy, and while I wasn’t really ready to accept change, I’d made my bed and had to lay in, it like my father would say. So I decided to head home and start reading a book called Deadline that I’d wanted to read for weeks, but never seemed to find the time. It’s about an 18-year-old high school senior who finds out he only has a year to live. I laid on the bed and thought, You are seventeen years old and very much alive and healthy. You should be counting your blessings instead of feeling so miserable.

Thomas and Colt

Colt called Thomas around ten that Saturday morning. “What time is your dad picking us up to take us to Megan’s?”

“Noon. That’ll give us time to pick them up and get to the show by one.”

“It’s embarrassing that we have to have your dad take us,” Colt replied.

“I agree. Makes me feel like such a kid.”

“Me too. But we don’t have much choice. How does it make you feel that Matt can drive, and we have to have your dad has to take us?”

Thomas laughed into the phone. “Colt, don’t you get it? I don’t give a damn about my date with Megan. I’m doing this because I won the bet and because my word means something. I hope yours does too.”

“It does, and I really appreciate you being so understanding.”

“What are you going to do, Colt, if she rubs your thigh and massages your cock?”

“Same as you.”

“Just so you know, this is what I’d do. I’d grab her wrist and move her hand to her lap.”

“Give me a break. Couldn’t you just let her rub it? I’d like to let Zoe keep massaging mine.”

“Nope. You said you’d do the same as me. I expect you to keep your word.”

“Thomas, I doubt we’ll have to worry about that. Well, at least I won’t have to worry about it. I think Megan’s the aggressive one. So you’d better watch yourself.”

“Don’t worry about me. Just take care of yourself. See you at noon.”

*****

Megan and Zoe wore dresses and both were at Megan’s when Thomas and Colt picked them up. They acted like being picked up by Thomas’ dad was nothing. The boys were embarrassed though because Megan’s father had a BMW and a Mercedes parked in the driveway, and Thomas’ dad was driving Chevy Malibu.

Megan and Zoe grabbed Thomas and Colt’s hands as they walked toward the ticket booth. Thomas tried to pull his hand away, but Megan held on tight, and he didn’t want to make a scene.

Megan said, “Let’s sit in the last row. It’s more private up there.”

“What do we need privacy for?” Thomas asked.

“Oh, you know. Privacy.”

“I think we should sit in the middle somewhere. Look, there’s a bunch of open seats over there,” he said as he pointed to a row of eight empty seats.

Megan grabbed Thomas’ hand and dragged him unwillingly up the steps with Zoe and Colt following. They moved into the row and sat toward the middle. Zoe and Colt followed, leaving one seat empty so they weren’t sitting right next to Megan and Thomas. The previews started Thomas sat stiffly staring at the screen. Zoe and Colt were talking until someone turned around and asked them to keep it down.

The main movie was on for about fifteen minutes before Megan started rubbing Thomas’ thigh. He grabbed her wrist and moved her hand. She tried again, and he did the same.

She finally said, “You’re no fun.”

“I agreed to go out with you, not to mess around with you.”

“I’m just trying to have a little fun,” she said coyly.

“Fun for you maybe, but not for me.”

“Okay, be that way,” Megan said as she folded her arms and stared at the screen.

Zoe put her hand on Colt’s thigh, and he put his hand on top of hers. He whispered in her ear. “That feels good.”

He reached over and put his hand on her inner thigh. She purred. “That feels good too.”

Thomas reached over and tapped Colt on the shoulder. “What’s going on over there?”

“Nothing,” Colt said.

Thomas looked at the screen.

Zoe grabbed Colt by the chin, turned his head, and kissed him. He kissed back and put his tongue in her mouth. She did the same.

Thomas cleared his throat, reached across Megan, and tapped Colt on the shoulder. “Remember, we had an agreement.”

Colt stood and motioned for Zoe to move down another seat. They moved, and then Thomas moved on the other side of Megan.

“What are you doing?” Megan asked.

“Insurance,” Thomas said.

Colt stood again, motioned Zoe out of the row of seats, and held her hand as they moved down two rows.

Thomas started to say something, but just gave up, sitting down and leaving a seat between him and Megan.

“Thomas, I won’t bite,” Megan said. “We could have a little fun like Zoe and Colt. Quit being such a prude. Do I turn you off that much?”

“Well, no. But, you know. I’m gay.”

“Is there some kind of law against a gay guy kissing a girl? Is your penis going to shrivel up and disappear?”

“Of course not. But I like guys.”

“I know. But it’s not like I’m ugly or something.”

The people in front of them turned around and said, “Would you please keep it down.”

Thomas grabbed Megan’s hand. “Let’s get out of here.”

She didn’t move.

“I’m going. You can come if you want. It’s up to you.”

She followed him into the hall where there was a sofa. Thomas flopped down on the sofa. Megan sat next to him. “Are you happy now?”

Is Thomas ready to ditch Colt and go find someone who will actually love him back yet? First that whole mess with Andy and now he's definitely cheating with that whore Zoe right in front of Thomas. I still don't really understand girls' motivation for why they've done what they've done, but Colt isn't satisfied with his "relationship" and wants whatever other warm body that's nearby. It's actually just getting ridiculous at this point. Time to move on Thomas, Colt might realize what he's lost once these weird girls settle their little bet, but is it worth it to let these douche keep doing this crap over and over?

A great chapter, Elias, and I'm not at all surprised that Colt didn't live up to his promise to Thomas. If he is bisexual, then Thomas is in for a whole lot of sleepless nights because Colt seems to have no contorl over his libido.
As for Matt, he's just getting himself deeper into a morasss of self-doubt. Being angry at Andy is just wrong on his part--Andy has tried to be what Matt wants, and has waited a long time for him to make up his mind--does he expect Andy to wait forever? While I don't think Ashton is right for Andy, they are having a purely physical realtionship, and I think Andy is already a bit unhappy with it.
Thomas and Andy, the victims in this story--both deserve so much better than the options they have at the moment. I still have hopes for Matt and Andy, but I think it is time for Thomas to move on.
More please, my friend!

Yeah, I foresaw Colt cheating, and it doesn't surprise me that he did it in front of Thomas. Obviously, Thomas isn't fully satisfying him, and Thomas deserves better than Colt. I think he should tell Colt that they ARE exclusive or not at all.
As for Andy and Matt, once Matt has dated Megan, he may have a better understanding of what he wants. I think part of his not being able to commit to Andy is his Questioning...

Seems I'm caught up again. Always a little disappointing catching up, as now there's the wait for the next chapter. And things are still not clear from Colt or Matt's side about where they stand. Colt is going for it quite seriously it seems. Poor Thomas! He's really not enjoying this at all, but maybe Colt is not the guy for him. In one of the reviews I think someone suggested he could do better, and there's a truth in that.
And Matt is still left not really knowing what he wants. It will be good for him to explore things with Megan and after Thomas I think Megan is going to be very available for Matt. She's lucky to have Matt interested in her as Matt is a gentleman and won't just use her and fling her aside. At least I don't think so.
Andy seems to really want Matt quite badly, but he's such a horn-dog and can't resist Ashton. He also badly wanted Colt, but managed to resist him. I think Matt is right not to have a relationship that is closed with Andy. Neither of them is really ready for that, and as you have suggested, it might not even happen, at least not on a permanent basis.
Still a lot of unanswered questions. Look forward to the next chapter.

I understand your frustration, but in reality think of the people who put up with all kinds of things people do to them because they really care for them and all the time we think they should move on. Even Andy found it hard to accept that Dillon was having sex with other younger boys. We are often in denial. I think it's part of being human. And of course, it's always easy to see when we sit back as an observer, but when we're actually in it, it usually very hard to see. So in a way that's what happening with all these guys. They can't see the forrest for the trees as they say.

Thanks for writing a comment. Keep them coming.

Columbus Guy

I think the boys are as confused as the author. These last chapters have been difficult to write because I've been unsure where the story should go. So I let the characters lead the way and maybe they are just a reflection of my own confusion as to what they should or shouldn't do. I love happy endings, but as you know a lot happens before you can ever have a happy ending. And a happy ending can often be different for different people.

I suppose that no matter how this all ends, we know Matt and Andy are still best friends. That's about all we know for sure right now. But, hey, that have a bit of a journey left before they arrive at their destination, so all we can do is enjoy the trip.

You're right. He is questioning. As he should be doing. Andy and Matt both like sex, but Andy views sex slightly differently than Matt, although I suddenly find myself hard pressed to explain what it is. I think Matt love sex, but he doesn't see it as a starting point. Andy kind of does. Andy isn't satisfied if he's not having sex. Matt seems to have it more in perspective. Now, as you know and Columbus Guy know, when you are an author, you'd like to think you understand the motivation and the thought process of our characters, but we don't always know it. Sometimes they just do what they damn well please.

Jaro, your thoughts I think express the confusion of these boys. They are young, and while I think most teenagers like to believe they know a lot about life, they really don't. We were the same when we were their age. Like I said in a previous reply, we like to believe we knew all the answers, but we didn't. I laugh when just recently I was thinking how wise I was when I was a teenager. I suppose in some ways I was, but there were many many ways that I wasn't. I'd like to say I was much wiser than some of my friends, but I'm not sure now if I really was.
