A Man in a Room, and other poems - 23. a two-lined Haiku and Galileo

.

Poem No. 62

A two-lined Haiku

For Yukio's birthday:

In the pinkest light, of farewell

I said good night, to the drowsy sun.

Poem No. 63

Her song is never changing

that changing is never complete –

a liquid state of affairs

are the affairs of life

Poem No. 64

Galileo

Prelude:

The place you leave is not as rich,

as it used to be.

Money is fluid, but nations don’t change;

fame is temporary,

History echoes, this same refrain.

the nation you leave,

Was once richer, but never as great

as the day you left it.

Poem:

Today you depart;

what will I be

when you arrive?

Six years till

you see your goal;

how many till I find mine?

The sweetest place I know

echoes from far afield,

where dreams and miracles happen.

Galileo, turn you face

to the land you leave behind;

we may not notice you now, but we will.

Today you depart;

what will I be

when you arrive?

Galileo, off to Jupiter

to heights only the gods knew

tonight you depart to find your passion.

And leave me to look for mine.

Postlude:

i.

In darkness you were born –

through the mists of ignorance,

you leave.

Through the daze of ignorance

we stay, and wait

in darkness.

ii.

To turn our eyes to you,

to see some of what you see,

is the dream of why you were born.

Hope goes along with you,

Wherever you may be –

However much we mourn.

iii.

You are there in our tears

In the sky of an unknown future.

62 .. is sweet and rosy.

63. i've read several times...life is fluid, things change, yet they don't really, do they?

64  i really like, you wonder how your life will change as Galileo flies onward ... it's goals are defined, where you seem to be reaching for the stars, and looking for your place in them.

thanks AC xox
