The Preacher's Kid: College and Beyond - 9. Matty’s Big Week/Nate’s Tough Week

So, Matty just played the biggest game of his life. Things are looking up for our quarterback!
Nate, on the other hand, gets to experience a pretty crappy week. This time it's Eddie with the helping hand.
I hope you enjoy this chapter--you see, major drama is just around the corner.

MATTY

Wow! I don’t think I’ve ever experienced anything like that game! It was fucking amazing the way everything we practiced just—worked! I mean, it completely sucked that Devyn got hurt. He was having an excellent game, too. I hope the NCAA suspends that fucker.

I’ve never experienced anything close to all the press wanting to get to me after the game. It was kinda freaking me out with some of the questions they were hitting me with. Things like “did I think I should be the starter now that I’ve won two games in a row?” and “what was my first reaction when I realized I was going to be needed in the game?” I mean, Jesus! I don’t know how to answer that shit!

Luckily, Coach saw the panicked look in my eyes, and he walked up to me—saving my scared ass!

“Folks, I have to take Matty in for the post-game press conference. You can ask your questions in the press room.”

“Press conference? Me?”

“Hell yes, son. You just kicked ass in the biggest game of your life—so far. You’re going in there with me.”

“B—bu—but—I look like shit! Can’t I take a quick shower first?”

“Hell no! You just played your butt off out there—and it looks like it—that’s the look the world gets to see—Matty Jordan—quarterback.”

“Can I text my family first and tell them I’m gonna be a while? They’re waiting on me for dinner and all.”

“Sure, but make it quick. Oh—and there’s an entire team looking up to you right now. I think you should have dinner with the team tonight—I’m sure your family will understand.”

Fuck! I want to see Eddie—Now! But at the same time, as hard as we worked all week on getting the team to work together and have a personal stake in what we do on the field—fuuuuuck! I need to have dinner with the team—especially if Devyn is still in the ER. I guess we’re not in high school anymore!

I sent a quick text to Eddie. Yeah, they were waiting outside the team entrance. But he was super chill and told me he understood. Then he told me I had to fuck him extra hard to make it up to me. Okay—let’s get this shit done with!

Hell, I didn’t get back to the hotel until almost 9:00! While I was riding the elevator up, it seemed like my cock got harder with each floor. I swear it started leaking by the time I knocked on the door!

It only took a few seconds for the door to open once I knocked. What the fuck? The door opened, but no one was there! I stepped into the room and the door shut by itself—leaving a totally naked, rock-hard Eddie leaning against the wall!

“Whoa! Y—you look—”

“Hey there, football boy. I don’t care how much of a hero you are. No kisses until you’re fucking naked and in the bed with me. Then—if you don’t fuck the Hell outta me right now, I’ll fucking break up with you and leave you to your right hand.”

I don’t even remember getting out of my clothes! I don’t even remember how long it took to be in bed with my amazing boyfriend. I do remember feeling his amazing body pressed against mine while we rolled around the king-sized bed—moaning, cursing, and breathing hard.

Oh yeah, I fucked him hard—just like he wanted. Eddie most definitely returned the favor. God! I love feeling him inside me! It’s the best feeling in the fucking world! We went at it ‘til past 4:00 in the morning! I’m not getting much sleep tonight since I had to be on the bus back to the mountains at 10:00 in the morning.

I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to the saying goodbye part of our visits. I had this fucking lump in my throat at least thirty minutes into the trip back to school. The only reason it went away was I fell asleep and didn't wake up until the bus stopped at the stadium.

I got a text from the coaches the next morning saying they wanted to see me as soon as my last class was done. Crap! What did I do now? I thought I had a great game on Saturday. I’m totally not in the mood for a dressing down from the coaches!

I got to Coach Clarke’s office around 4:00. He was there with the quarterbacks' coach and the offensive coordinator. Fuck me. They don’t look happy.

“Have a seat, Jordan.”

Coach Clarke was sitting behind his desk, with his glasses slid down his nose. He looked up and looked me in the eye. “Jordan, you did a great job taking us to the finish line at Wake Forest. We got the report on Devyn this morning. We have to put him on the required concussion protocol for 2-4 weeks. That means you’ll be starting next week at Wisconsin.”

“Do you think I’m ready for that, Coach?”

“You will be. I can promise you that. Now—Wisconsin is a top-ten school. If you play like you did on Saturday, you will, at the very least, keep us in the game. Our job this week is to raise the playing level of the rest of the team. Devyn will be traveling with us, so he can be on the sidelines for you. He’s a good kid, and he knows his shit. The only reason I’m taking him with us is that the two of you together lead this team better than any of us. You up for it, son?”

“Yessir! You know I’m going to give it all I got—and then some.”

“That’s what I like to hear. Now—you grab yourself some dinner. We’ll see you back at 6:30 for the video review. Thanks again, Jordan—you done good!”

Of course, the very first thing I did when I left the building was send a text to Eddie telling him that I’d be starting next week. I was pretty excited about that! On the other hand, he was excited that we would have Saturday afternoon and evening to ourselves. The parents weren’t going to come to this game.

I told him we wouldn’t be fucking on this trip. Ha! That kinda freaked him out until I told him I wanted romance and making love. He told me that the thought of that had him hard pretty much instantly. Yeah, tonight’s Facetime was gonna be hot as fuck!

NATE

Can I just say one thing? High school sucks! Big time!

We were barely gone twenty-four hours. I go to church with Mom Sunday morning and thought it was weird that Simon wasn’t there. I mean, he’s sitting with me pretty much every Sunday. So I sent him a text to see if he was coming. No answer.

I sent another asking him if he was okay. Again—no answer. I wanted to send him another, but Dad was about to start, and Mom made me turn off my phone.

So Simon doesn’t show up at all. I text him again on the way home. Still no answer. When I get into my room, I decided to give him a call. What the fuck? His phone was off. My call went right to his voicemail.

“Hi Simon, just checking up and making sure you’re okay. Church was boring as fuck with you not being there. I missed you! I guess that means I’m falling for you, huh? Call me!”

Well, the asshole didn’t call. Now—I’m not calling Simon an asshole for not calling. I’m calling him an asshole because he’s a chickenshit. That’s right. Simon—my best friend and supposedly my boyfriend—ignores my calls and totally ghosts me because he doesn’t know how he’s going to tell me that he’s decided that he’s going to be Charlie Appleworth’s boyfriend now.

Yeah—that’s right—He drags my ass out to the courtyard before school even starts to tell me this news. Oh! The shocker here? Charlie Appleworth is a girl! That’s right—the boy who has told me over and over again how much he loves my dick in his mouth—the boy who loves the taste of my nut—the boy who kept telling me he loved me—he’s decided that he’s suddenly straight? Am I that horrible as a boyfriend? Is it because I told him I loved him, but I wasn’t completely in love with him? I mean, I wasn’t in love with him like Matty and Eddie are in love. Hell, Mom and Dad probably aren’t even in love as much as those two!

The worst part was that all but one of my classes was with Simon. In homeroom, I decided to hide in the back of the room. Bad idea, by the way! Charlie and Simon were in the middle of the room, hanging all over each other and laughing. They were probably laughing at my pathetic ass for taking the news so badly. Why not? I was pissed!

So, the rest of the day, I sat as close to the front as I could. The good thing was that I didn’t have to see Simon. The bad thing was that I couldn’t get that damned lump out of my throat, and my teachers kept giving me weird looks. I need to talk to Eddie.

I pretty much kept to myself the rest of the day. At least the lump in my throat was gone by the time Mom picked me up after school. I was quiet.

“Nate? Is everything okay? You’re awfully quiet.”

“Yeah, I’m fine.” I lied my ass off. “I just had a rough day and have a ton of homework tonight.” I don’t know if she believed me or not—but she didn’t say anything else on the way home.

As soon as we got home, I went straight to my room, shut the door, and plopped onto my bed. I grabbed my pillow and buried my face in it so I could finally have the cry I had been fighting off all day. I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I knew, Mom was calling me down for dinner.

At least Dad had a super busy day, and most of the dinner talk was about that. Well, that and Matty’s text that he was going to be the starter this weekend. I wish we were going to the game, but at least we would watch it on television.

I was helping Mom with the dishes and noticed Eddie’s car in the driveway. I told Mom I wanted to talk to Eddie, and she just wrapped her arms around me. “Nate, I don’t know what’s going on with you right now. I know you’ll tell me if and when you’re ready. But whatever it is, I hope Eddie can help you through it. Just don’t stay too long. You said you had a lot of homework, and you need to get that finished before you go to bed.”

“Thanks, Mom.”

I walked over to Eddie’s house and knocked on the door. I guess I still look like shit because the first thing Eddie did was look and me and ask me what was wrong.

“Can we talk?” I looked into the living room and saw Donald sitting on the sofa with a cute boy. What the fuck is that about? “Can we talk in private?”

“Sure thing, kiddo.” Eddie took me down into the basement, and we sat on the sofa in the game room. “What’s up, Nate?”

Oh, Hell! Here come the tears again! Eddie wrapped me in his arms and held me. He just waited for me to talk.

I finally stopped crying and sniffed. “Simon dumped me today—for a girl! What did I do wrong? I mean—he told me he loved me the last time we were together. I go to the football game and come back. He doesn’t show up to church. He doesn’t answer my texts. He turns off his phone. And before school even started this morning, he drags me out to the courtyard to tell me that he’s dating Charlie Appleworth now.”

“And Charlie’s a girl?”

“Yeah. The three of us hang around together. Well-at least, we used to. I don’t get it! One day he tells me he loves me and wants to go all the way with me—which we didn’t. I mean, I promised you I wouldn’t and all. Eddie—it hurts so much? I mean—Simon’s my best friend, and he ends up with my other best friend.”

“I’m so sorry, Nate. I’m probably not the best to give relationship advice since I’ve really only had one—even though it’s also with my best friend.”

“But that’s just it, Eddie. You and Matty have been best friends forever. You guys just took it to the next level. I thought that’s what Simon and I were doing.”

“You love Simon, don’t you?”

“Well yeah, he’s my best friend. Of course I love him.”

“You’ve told Simon this?”

“Yeah, but not in the way he wanted me to tell him. I told him I loved him, but I didn’t know if I was ready to be in love with him. I mean, I think he only told me he was in love with me because he wanted me to go all the way with him. I was afraid that if I told him that I was in love with him, he would totally pressure me to do it.”

“Well, if I remember correctly, we talked about it being risky for the two of you to get too physical at such a young age. Let me tell you one thing I know for sure—puberty sucks. You have all this physical shit going on with your body, and the emotional stuff you get seems to move a lot slower. My guess is that Simon is still trying to figure a lot of shit out. He probably doesn’t know what he wants. I’m willing to bet that he’s trying out different things to see what he really likes. I mean, if you’re completely honest with yourself, you’re probably trying to figure the same shit out.”

“But we’re best friends. It worked out great for you and Matty. Why can’t it be for Simon and me?”

Eddie looked at me and smiled while he wrapped his arms around me again. That’s the best feeling I’ve had all day, by the way. “Because Simon isn’t Matty—and you’re not me. Nate, don’t try to be me. You know that’s not going to work. We’re totally different people. And just so you know, you’re pretty amazing all by yourself. I wasn’t even halfway close to the person you are when I turned fourteen.”

“That doesn’t make me feel much better, but thanks for having so much faith in me. I don’t see it, though—and Simon definitely doesn’t.”

“Did he tell you this?”

“No. Simon told me he still thought I was awesome and that more than anything, he wanted to be best friends still. I mean, how would you feel if the first time you kissed Matty, he told you just wanted to be friends?”

“I don’t know. I’ve never really thought about it. I know it would have sucked, but at the same time, when it happened, it just kinda happened. I don’t think either one of us planned it. It just happened.”

“I just don’t get it—I mean—Simon’s soooo gay! How can Charlie be happy with him? How can he be happy with her?”

“Who knows? It’s a strange world.”

“Right? Speaking of strange, what’s with Donald sitting so close to the boy upstairs?”

“Oh. That’s Conner. Um—Donald’s new boyfriend?”

“See what I mean? My gay best friend wants to be straight now—and the straightest dude in the entire city is sitting upstairs snuggling with a boy! This is so fucked up! Do you think they’ve—”

“Probably. They were together the whole time I was gone, and both of them picked me up at the airport. They had that goofy glow on their faces. Hey kiddo, you gonna be okay?”

“Yeah, it just was a shitty day. I guess I know it’s not my fault. Simon’s just all kinds of crazy and mixed up.”

“Just remember, you can’t make people be what you want them to be—just like they can’t make you into something you’re not.”

“I know. Hell, I don’t even know what I want to be right now.”

“How about just being Nate? He’s a pretty awesome kid brother who’s smart, funny, and knows just what to say when his big brother is feeling shitty.”

“Yeah—I guess I learned that from you. I love you, Eddie—most of the time.” Eddie opened his arms to me, and we shared a nice, long hug.

“Come on up and say hi Conner.”

Eddie explained that when I talk to Conner, I need to look at him so he could read my lips—something about him being deaf or something. Weird, I’ve never had a conversation with a deaf person before. I mean, when Eddie brought him over a couple of weeks ago, I barely said hello to him. Eddie was hogging the whole conversation.

We got upstairs and walked into the living room. Whoa! We walked in on Donald and Conner kissing! Eddie cleared his throat and apologized for interrupting.

“Nate wanted to say hi to Conner.”

“Hi, Conner. It’s nice to see you again!”

I still couldn’t get over seeing big bad Donald Harper kissing a boy! “Uh—hi. Nice to meet you, too—again.”

Donald smiled and kept his arms around Conner. “I guess you must be a little surprised.”

“Uhm—yeah. A little, I guess.”

“Don’t worry about it. It surprises me, too. You okay?”

“Yeah. It’s been that kind of day. One surprise after another, you could say.”

“Okay, Nate. You should get back home and finish up your homework. I have a lot of reading to do myself.”

I don’t know why, but as I thought about what I had just seen, my dick got hard as I walked back to the house. I guess I know what I need to do before I finish up the homework!

EDDIE

It was only the second full week of classes, but I was getting used to the routine. I have to say that college wasn’t that much harder than high school. I guess having all those AP classes helped get me ready. The one big difference was there was just so much fucking work to do outside of class!

The week went by pretty fast. It was fun watching Donald and Conner get closer, but I have to say I’m glad their bedroom was upstairs. I didn’t hear them often, but when I did—let me just say Donald Harper is loud as fuck!

Friday finally got here, and the guys took me to the airport for my flight to Madison. I got a lot of reading done on the flight, and before I knew it, we were landing. I didn’t have to wait for baggage claim since I had everything in my carry-on. I went to the phone bank and called the hotel to send the van over to get me.

Not even an hour later, I was in my room and settling in. I texted Mom and Dad to let them know I had arrived safely and had just settled into some more reading when my phone rang. Damn! Hotel phones are too fucking loud!

“Hi, baby!”

“Matty! God, it’s so good to hear your voice! I miss you so much!”

“So go answer your door, already!”

“What?

Just then, there was a light tapping on my door. I looked through the peephole, and there he was! I let Matty into the room and jumped into his open arms, wrapping my legs around him as we kissed like the love-crazed fools we were.

Matty set me back down to the floor. “How did you get away from the team?”

“We got back from our workout at the stadium and had dinner already. I only have about 10 minutes before we have to be in our rooms, so I thought I’d come by and get a kiss from the hottest boy in this hotel!”

“Ten minutes, huh?”

“Yeah, I wish it could be—”

Matty couldn’t finish whatever he was blabbering about. I had already opened his jeans and had his cock in my mouth. He was completely hard in just seconds, and he leaned his back against the wall.

I sucked and pistoned my head as fast as I could while Matty rested his hands on my head. God, I can’t tell you how hot it is to hear him gasp and swear as he gets hotter and hotter!

I took one hand and started pulling on his balls while I took the other and teased his hole. It didn’t take long—like three minutes—for Matty’s legs to begin shaking as his balls tightened.

“Oh, fuuuuuck! Eddie! I’m—I’m gonna—Ahhhhhhhhhgh!”

Matty filled my mouth with his hot nut and pushed my head all the way down as he finished shooting. Once I swallowed that last of his load, I stood and kissed my quarterback so he could taste what was left on my tongue.

“Good luck with the game tomorrow. I love you so fucking much it hurts!”

“There’s no way to describe how much I love you, Eddie. You’re my world, you know.”

Matty had to leave and get back to his room, and I was left alone. I ordered a room service pizza and hopped in the shower while I waited for it to arrive. I guess it’s no surprise that I had a huge load to dump down the drain after my little surprise for my boy!

I’m his world! Wow! Yeah, I know we’ve been together quite a while now, but when Matty says shit like that to me—and the way he says it—it just makes me fucking weak in the knees. I thought back to the conversation I had with Nate earlier in the week and said a little prayer that he could find what Matty and I had—when it was time, of course!

The game was pretty exciting. The good news was that Matty played his first full college game. The not-so-good news was that we lost—even though Matty was able to keep us pretty close all the way through. It’s all good in the long run. Wisconsin is ranked in the top ten. Everyone was saying they would probably drop in the polls since a small school gave them so much trouble.

It was so fucking cold in Wisconsin! I was going to wait for Matty after the game, but he told me to get back to the hotel and warm up. I grabbed an Uber and was back at the hotel and in my room.

I turned on the television and flipped over to ESPN. When they got to the Wisconsin game, they spent a lot of time talking about how impressed they were with Matty! One of the commentators mentioned that Appalachian State was the only school to recruit him. The other guy said there were probably a lot of schools kicking themselves for passing by such a good quarterback. Proud! So. Fucking. Proud!

After I stopped shivering, I headed down to the restaurant and got some dinner. As I was finishing up, I heard the team come into the hotel lobby. I sent a quick text to Matty, telling him where I was and that I would be up in the room soon.

I couldn’t move fast enough! I finished eating and signed my bill to the room. I sent a text to Matty from the elevator, telling him I was on the way up to the room. We both got to the door at the same time!

God! What an amazing night! We made sweet, slow love—followed by some hard and fast fucking. But with all the out-of-this-world sex we had, my favorite part was holding each other and looking into each other's eyes. We would talk, giggle, kiss, and talk some more.

Next weekend was a bye week, and the team had Saturday and Sunday off. Matty was going to drive home after his classes on Friday, and we would have the entire weekend together!

NATE

I felt a lot better about things after talking with Eddie, but it was still a weird week. I mean—I just didn’t know what to say to Simon—especially with Charlie around all the time.

It was Thursday at lunch when Simon came up to where I was sitting. He asked if he could sit with me. I looked around and noticed he was alone.

“Where’s Charlie?”

“She had to go to the library. And she told me I had to straighten things out with you. She hates seeing you sad and all—probably even more than I do.”

“Yeah—you can sit here.”

At the same time, we both said, “Look—” “Look—”

“Me first, k?” I could see that Simon was really nervous.

“Sure, go ahead.”

“I’m sorry, Nate. This whole thing with Charlie—it—it—it just kinda happened. Neither of us planned anything or expected it. Believe me. It surprised me, too—probably more than it surprised you.”

“I guess what surprised me was that just a couple of days earlier, my dick was in your mouth, and you kept saying you loved me. Then I’m gone for a day, and you tell me you’re with a girl now. And not just any girl—our best friend girl. That really hurts, Simon. Totally fucking hurts.”

“I’m sorry, Nate. I never wanted you to be hurt like this. But I miss my best friend. I miss hanging with you and hearing your stupid jokes. I miss laughing. And to be honest, the girl thing isn’t working out so well.”

“What do you mean?”

“The other day, after school—we—well, we tried to have sex. I couldn’t do it, Nate.” He leaned in to me and whispered, “The only way I could get hard was to close my eyes and pretend I was with you.”

“Whoa. I mean—that kinda sucks for Charlie, doesn’t it?”

“Yeah, and now I have to piss her off and tell her that it’s not going to be a good idea for us to stay together. I’ve fucked everything up so much! It’s just—just—just sooooo confusing! What do I do?”

“You tell her the truth—nicely. As much as it might hurt her now, think about how bad it would be if you kept pretending with her? That would be horrible.”

“Yeah, you’re right. Besides, I want you back.”

“Well, I miss you too, Simon. But the more I think about it, the more I think maybe we should just go back to being best friends and leave the sex stuff out of it—at least for a while.”

“You don’t want sex anymore?”

“Jesus, Simon! I’m fourteen years old. I walk around with a hard-on pretty much all day. Of course I want sex. But even more, I want us to get back to an even better place before we start playing around again.”

“Okay, I guess I see where you’re coming from.”

“Oh, stop being a mopey puss! I also know that if we do this the right way, we’ll get even closer. And when we do decide to take things further—you’ll get your wish. I’ll give you everything you’ve been wanting.”

“But you said you didn’t want that.”

“Simon—I want that more than anything—but just when the time is right. Okay?”

“Okay. Fuck me! Charlie’s not gonna be happy about this.”

“I know, but you gotta do this—and soon.”

“Yeah. You’re right. Umm—do you think that maybe I could sleep over tomorrow night?”

“Yes, but no sex stuff. Just you and me getting to know each other even more, k?”

“Deal.”

Simon got up and left the cafeteria. Funny how happy I was! But I wasn’t going to say a word to anyone—especially Eddie—until I knew where Simon and I stood.

I went to bed that night feeling pretty good about where things were heading with Simon. But that all ended around 4:00 in the morning when I woke up sick.

Damn! I feel crappy! I threw up and crawled back into the bed. I know the house was warm, but I couldn’t stop shivering. Somehow I went back to sleep but woke up again to throw up. Crap. There goes the weekend.

I still can't believe Donald has a boyfriend!
I'm loving these characters. I have to be honest, the next chapter is going to be one of the hardest I've ever written. All I can say is that every life in this story will be dramatically change.
In the meantime, thanks for all of you support and love for these characters!

I suppose Eddie & Nate will still be PK’s even if their father suffers a major catastrophe at the hands of the author…

Whatever the resolution is for Nate, Simon, and Charlie, I hope you resist the calls for a thruple. They seem to be very rare in the real world and often split into a couple and a third wheel after a relatively short time. Things are too confusing enough for teenagers in any case, and adding an unusual situation will only make things even more unstable.

Poor Nate, at least he had Eddie to talk to. I hope can rebuild his friendship with Simon, but I'm not sure if I'd trust him on a romantic level for quite a while.

Still getting used to Donakd having a boyfriend.

Why do foresee life changing/shattering news ahead for Eddie and Matty? Especially after Matty being seen by so many of the bigger schools.

OMG - What have you got up your sleeve Geoff?  Is it Nate or the preacher that's going to bring drastic changes to everyone?

Great story and great chapter.  Thank you!

Oh no... can you even imagine?!  I know of some successful gay male thruples, but the guys are adults and have their eyes open. Not only would it be a bad move for young Simon and Nate, but “shifty Simon” couldn’t get it up for Charlie, anyway.  That Simon would try to have full-on sex with Charlie within a day of becoming her boyfriend is very telling about shifty Simon’s motivations.

You say the story will take a dramatic change.... and then it ends like this.... out with it.... what does Nate have. Cancer? Appendicitis? Is he experiencing a miracle pregnancy?

Better churn this next chapter out... this inquiring mind want to know.

I think it's more than flu with the next chapter being one of the hardest he has ever written and life changing for everyone.

That would certainly be life-changing for the entire group! They’d have to go on GMA again, at the very least. But wouldn’t this storyline be better as a Book 3?

But it doesn’t sound like the second year of school changes that were mentioned…

I'm thinking Leukaemia, with one of the boy's being the bone marrow donor.

I'm thinking Leukaemia, with one of the boy's being the bone marrow donor.

If the donor turned out to be Simon, that would cause all sorts of conflicting emotions. But if it were Conner, it would tie him into the family better. Either would be more interesting and more unusual than a family member.

In the Who Shot Mr Burns story arc resolution, Marge says she became a Simpson, DNA and all, when she married Homer.

Oh and Matty ends up being the donor and loses his career over it but decided Nate is worth it more than football.

Excellent chapter! Poor Nate, Simon dumps him for their best friend who’s a girl, and couldn’t get it up without pretending it’s Nate. Eww! Simon is a piece of work. He expected Nate to take him back like nothing happened. How clueless is that boy? Your notice is disconcerting, I love all of these characters you’ve created. Don’t let anything bad happen to Nate, he’s such a special kid. I don’t think I could take it if you selected him for whatever life changing event you’ve chosen. I’m definitely not looking forward to the next chapter! 😃❤️

Poor Nate, indeed! First his "gay" best friend dumps him for a girl, then his "straight" friend suddenly turns up with a boyfriend. As Eddie said, puberty sucks. A 14 year old heart is very fragile, and he's not mature enough to understand how to build a shield around it.

As for the next chapter, he says that everyone's life will change, it doesn't say someone is going to fall gravely ill, or die. It could be something else, like a firebombing of the church. I, for one, will wait and see.
