Wayne's Poems - 26. Wrapped in Armor

Hide in mind,
Theater calm,
Brace for war,
There is no balm.

Winds they blow,
The trees they bow,
"But I wont,"
My foolish vow.

And I go,
Wrapped in armor,
All I want,
The calm harbor.

But I go.
Wrapped in armor.

I wrote this a long time back, and it seems pertinent again. Just dealing with the world lately can make us want to suit up, behind steel and leather ... Wrapped in Armor.

You’re right. This poem fits our times well. I like the image of trees bowing and swaying before the wind, contrasted with that of the calm harbor.

Thanks, Parker. I'd say more ... but I'm tapped out right now. Just, thank you for reading and commenting. I appreciate it.

These are very troubling times because there are so many unknowns with the virus. This poem says a lot about the way most people are feeling right now. I hope you’re doing well and staying safe. I have no choice but to be safe because I’m now taking care of my son after he had a bad stroke while he was in the ICU for kidney failure and a severe infection in his abdomen.
