Lost and Found - Prologue. Prologue

In the year 2023, a virus ravaged the globe, killing hundreds of thousands of people with no signs of slowing down.

The CDC and WHO called it HRS, Hemorrhagic Respiratory Syndrome, but it was more commonly known as Red Death.

The symptoms mimicked the flu however, it progressively got worse and caused respiratory failure, internal hemorrhaging, seizures, and eventually death.

In 2025 scientists were still scrambling to find a vaccine for the Red Death, and only one showed promise. The doctor responsible for engineering it, Dr. Jameson Clayton, an epidemiologist in San Francisco, tested the vaccine on himself because of resistance for human trials from the government. But it had adverse effects.

It instead progressed the rate of infection, mutating HRS to become more contagious and kill its victims even quicker. This event was known as The Clayton Outbreak.

The government was successful at containing it in San Francisco by destroying all the bridges and tunnels that led to the island city, and effectively considering it a dead zone with no contact and no one allowed in or out.

In the year 2028 only major cities were habitable in the Western United States, with smaller communities scattered here and there. After the Clayton Outbreak and the containment of San Francisco, the United States Government pulled aid out of the western states. As a result, the states west of the Rocky Mountains decided to band together to form the Pacific Republic to try and secede from the east. This started a civil war that lasted until 2031 with the Pacific Republic successfully seceding from the United States and becoming its own nation.

A year later Team Alpha, a highly trained military unit out of Fort Bakersfield, was sent on a mission to San Francisco to retrieve Dr. Jason Grimm, a geneticist who showed promise for a cure for Cancer. However the team quickly found out that there was something more sinister going on.

Dr. Grimm was not working on a cure for cancer, and in fact recreated the virus responsible for the Clayton Outbreak. He had been testing the new virus, code named “Genesis”, on human subjects, which he captured from the community of people who survived the initial outbreak and had been forgotten inside the city.

While investigating Dr. Grimm's motives, it came to light that he was part of a terrorist organization known as The Order, a group that was bent on the destruction of their government, and was responsible for the original Red Death outbreak.

Team Alpha learned of their plan to unleash Genesis on Los Angeles, and blame it on the United States, forcing the two countries back into a civil war and giving them the opportunity to overthrow both governments.

Team Alpha was able to stop the terrorist attack, saving the city and killing The Orders leader, General Dreyfus. With The Order effectively fractured and most of its followers in hiding, the Pacific Republic and the United States have begun talk about reunification. Bringing an end to the conflict between them and the terrorist organization that threatens their way of life.
