Dragonborne: Fire and Shadows is an excellent example of the fantasy genre.  Levi is hidden as a human after his family is killed.  When his birthright as a dragonborne is awakened by an attack, he is taken back to his own world by Merlin.  There he is trained to become the ruler that is needed to defend his world from the evil of its enemies.  This story is a great adventure and romance as Levi is released from the shields that have imprisoned him and lets him reunite with friends of his past and future.  The author has created a unique world full of danger and challenges.  The characters are engaging and the plot exciting.  A very well written story with twists and surprises that will keep you anticipating the next chapter.  I strongly recommend reading this first book in the series.

From the beginning, it was unclear how Levi and Jin would co-exist, but it was later revealed that they were very close several years prior.

The characters and their trials felt realistic and flowed throughout the story. Surprises appear strategically and meaningfully. The story’s plot and characters were enjoyable.
