vi. Resort in Las Vegas has finished a major upgrading. As part of the grand re opening, they plan a week of festivities. Music stars are brought in to perform on consecutive evenings. Chipper headlines concert hall reopening on his birthday.

b. Registration
“Welcome back, Mr. Mayor.” The front desk attendant smiled at the group of young men and women crowding the registration area but spoke to CJ.
Ritch laughed and slapped his brother’s back. “Déjà vu all over again, bro. They just use your title these days.” He glanced at the hotel employee who appeared slightly confuse. “I remember hearing the same greeting in Milwaukee and Sydney and wondering how they knew him. I was such a kid back then. It didn’t register they would have info on previous stays on the computer.” “Technology’s a wonderful thing.” The clerk grinned at Ritch. “But I did not need the computer to recognize him. I met your brother last year when we hosted an event for him.”
In the runup to D.C.’s mayoral election, CJ had traveled the country attending fundraising events. One of them had been hosted by Meryl and Keving Easton at the hotel. They owned a controlling interest in the property and a couple of others in Nevada. Meryl had been a friend of his grandmother, Lily Davenport.
“Congratulations on your election, Mr. Mayor.” He glanced at Ritch again who nodded when asked if he was Lieutenant Peterson. “We have you in a 3 bedroom suite with your brother, his husband, Ms. Hoang, and Mr. & Mrs. Wilkinson.”
“Bruh!” Harley looked horrified. Lucy’s my sister, not my wife. She’s engaged to flyboy. Kim and I are together. Can you believe we—” Harley’s incipient monologue was truncated when Lucy made an appearance, threw her arms around Ritch, and smashed their lips together. She rode from LA with Chipper’s band aboard tour bus.
Carson offers to share his room with Tank.
Mr. and Mrs. Easton left a message and would like you to call them. They’d like to have lunch with you and Mr. Liston tomorrow.

Peter complains to Chipper since documentary means lots of money. “Why are we doing this here? You have a larger room on the top floor we should be using.”
“Because even though it’s my birthday party, and you and the publicists want to make it all about me, this is where the Squad’s gonna hang out. I get a break from the public image.”
“Peter! Shut the fuck up and get your little ass in here.” CJ had detached himself from the crowd at the entrance and was looking through one of the bags. “We each get one?”
