This is on of Cole's earlier stories, and if you like old time detective stories with plenty of twists and turns, minus the detective, then give this a read.  There is also a considerable amount of violence, and you'll find there are multiple twists and turns along the way, so you won't figure everything out.  If you don't mind the violence, although not overly graphic, and like a challenge, give this short story a try.
