Beyond - 1. Beyond

Beyond

Time is ticking
I've embarked on a journey
Inevitably
The seconds pass by

I'm on a mission
To an unknown land
I go beyond, I'm on
The road to nowhere

My memories are fading
The darkness' closing in
I've passed the threshold and
I'm walking in dead silence

But I wish I could tell you
Of the light that I see
Far ahead of me at
The end of the tunnel

I wish I would not leave you
At desperate ends and
I wish I could tell you that
I love you, my son

What a lovely look back and sense of regrets. It was heart breaking and yet i felt a sense of forgiveness too. Very moving, Dolores. Great job.

This is very personal poem, as I suppose anyone thinking about the moment of passing has to go through it alone. All the images are very vivid, and I feel there's an extra emotional punch at the end with the appearance of the word 'son.' Some strong stuff in this one…good job!
