Crossing the Moon - 25. Mini Side Story- Azar and Deniz

a/n: This took place between chapters 14 and 15.

The look on Shael's face when he realized the salamander had been the one to steal his stole was priceless. Azar had no doubt that he'd survive the fall. Why would the goddess Nut order him to do such a thing if it killed his fellow elemental? Wasn't Farshael the ultimate favorite of the gods? The thought brought back a tiny surge of envy in Azar, something he thought he had grown out of.

But could anyone blame him?

Shael was the fastest flier. That made him the popular choice for the most critical missions. The more missions he completed, the more dependable he appeared to be. Azar felt it just wasn't fair to him and the others.
When he landed in the God Realm, a devious smile formed on the fire elemental's face. The goddess seemed to want the sylph stuck in the mortal plane for several months. That's generally how long it took them to make a stole from scratch. With Farshael temporarily suspended from his duty, the other three elementals in their division would all have an uptick in missions.

Sheer glee at that thought had Azar dancing around and taunting like an imp. "He's gone," he chanted like a child, swiping Shael's air stole along his clothed backside in perfect rhythm. "He's gone, he's gone, he's-"

"Azar!"

The salamander gasped at the rumbling anger ebbing from that voice. He gulped hard, dragging his tongue piercing along the roof of his mouth in nervousness. Azar quickly hid the pale blue stole behind his back. Just as he suspected, the voice's owner was the most beautiful male nymph in all the God Realm, Deniz. The turquoise-eyed elemental was breathtaking, even amid fury.

"Y-yes-" Azar began in a far squeakier voice than he wanted. He cleared his throat and continued. "My aqueous ardor?"

Unfazed, the long-haired nymph dove to the side, nearly grasping the end of Farshael's air stole. As he moved, Azar couldn't help but admire the gradation of blues in the other elemental's tresses. The pale blue at the roots was lighter than the daytime sky, while the darker ends that fell to Deniz's hips were as deep a blue as the heart of the ocean. The fire elemental dodged yet again when the nymph tried for a second time.

Deniz lifted his arms in exasperation. Azar had never seen the water elemental so flustered and angry before. The part of him that enjoyed trying to get a rise out of Den was thrilled. Wasn't it what he had always wanted? To see the nymph lose his composure?

"Argh!" The nymph grumbled. "If that's what I think it is, you have a lot of explaining to do!"

With those words, reality slapped Azar in the face. Deniz wasn't reacting to him. He was outraged on his bestie Farshael's behalf. The salamander tsked and frowned. Nut had ordered him not to tell anyone the truth, including his comrades. What would she do to him if he failed at his first critical mission?

"What, this?" The fire elemental responded as he gave Deniz a quick peek at the stole before hiding it again. "It's not Shael's, it's...uh, Muir's stole...sylphs and their obsession with light blues, right?"
The nymph stood up straight and folded his arms, his turquoise eyes narrowing. Azar loved seeing those cerulean eyelashes at half-mast just as equally as he feared the expression on Den's face. Even in his most murderous stance, he was damn gorgeous.

"Azar, you are lying through your teeth." The words were so cold that they caused a shiver to roll down the salamander's spine. "You know how I detest lies. What makes you think that I wouldn't recognize that stole when I was the one that helped find the rare Ifu Elimnandi seeds that would help produce that specific shade of blue?"

Azar winced. Right. He had forgotten that the water nymph was not only an expert in blue shades, but he’d helped in the creation of the thing. Subconsciously, he kept taking steps back as if to make a run for it. But Deniz kept closing the gap. Under any other circumstances, the red-eyed elemental would be delighted for the nymph to enter his personal space. But those knee-weakening turquoise eyes held a promise of pain.

"C-come on, Den... don't be mad…" The salamander attempted to placate him.

Deniz took another menacing step forward. "If you don't tell me the truth right now," he hissed. "I swear I will drop you so far into the Mariana trench that it will take you at least a decade to rekindle your spark."

"Y-you wouldn't…" Azar responded in a trembling voice. Deniz was serious when he said he hated liars. The nymph himself never lied, holding himself to that standard.

The salamander shrieked like a girl when water sprouts began to shoot up from the ground. He swooped and danced around them as if his life depended on it. But, just when he thought he was used to the pattern, Deniz began to shoot water at him horizontally as if he were some kind of target in the woods.

"This isn't your usual cute game!" Deniz insisted. "Tell me the truth. Now!"

Azar spluttered when the water went up his nose. He had been smacked in the face with water and struggled to get out of the line of fire as his elemental sinuses continued to sting. But, once he got off-rhythm, he found himself peltered. "Ok, ok!" He surrendered. "It wasn't me, it was a mission! I swear it on the hottest pepper in the mortal plane that I love so much!"

The fire elemental let out a sigh of relief when the water finally receded. With watery eyes from the remaining ache in his sinuses, he held the light blue air stole before him for Deniz to take. Despite the blue elemental being frightening as all hell while on a rampage, Azar couldn't help but long for the nymph.

The elemental in question began gently folding the celestial cloth as he grumbled under his breath. "Leaving him stranded in the mortal plane is no joke…"

"I was forced to swear an oath of secrecy," Azar admitted. "But, I know he'll be alright. He can tell us more when he's back."

Deniz cast him a suspicious sideway glance as he continued to grumble. "Don't know why I still find you cute…"

"Wait, you think I'm cute?"

"Of course I do, you idiot!"
Azar gasped in excitement. "Really? But you never followed when I tried to play with you and get you to come with me."

"Honestly," Den sighed with a slight shake of his head. "If you are going to court a water nymph, then you must learn more about them. We're more subtle with our flirting. I've given you many signs of my interest. For example, when I slowly began braiding my hair off to one side…"

"Was that a sign that you wanted me to kiss the nape of your neck?"

"No, it was a sign to help me finish the braid...are you even listening?"

"What about if I do both?"

"That's permissible only after we're an official couple."

"So," Azar questioned as he snuck further into Deniz's personal space. "What do we have to do to become an official couple?"

Deniz took a deep breath to calm himself and avoided Azar's vibrant eyes as he tried to ignore his racing heart. "I would have to give consent, like all other elementals."

Azar reached out to gently take hold of a small segment of the water elemental's hair as his red eyes sought turquoise. "Then, may I have consent, Deniz? I'd like nothing more than for us to be an official couple."

"O-once we are, there's no going back," the nymph warned as he began to flush, finally losing his composure. “No more flirting with other elementals.” Despite his many antics, Azar rarely riled him up, but Deniz could sense the salamander's sincerity. That, along with the warmth radiating from the fire elemental's proximity, made him lose concentration.

The smile that tugged on the edge of the salamander's lips promised all kinds of naughty delights. "I rather like the sound of that," Azar confessed. "So, is that a yes?"

Deniz swallowed hard in nervousness as he trailed his fingers over his stole. The vibrant and playful fire elemental was a handful by nature. But, when the nymph asked him to stop, Azar had always respected his wishes. Was he brave enough to accept the salamander as he was?

"Yes," the water elemental decided. Azar literally burst into his signature flames from head to toe and let out a howl, startling the shit out of the nymph. Plum, pink, and periwinkle blue gave way to the pale teal the same shade as the roots of Azar’s hair, eyebrows, and eyelashes.

"Fuck, is this a dream?" The salamander questioned aloud as he pinched himself and winced. "No, it's not. Den!" The flames were instantly put out when the fire elemental tugged the water nymph into a tight hug. "Den, you won't regret this!"

"That's yet to be proven," Deniz murmured to himself.

"Here, my aqueous ardor," Azar prompted as he draped his red stole over the nymph's shoulders and tugged Deniz's stole over his own in a swap. "I'll weave in four segments on the edge."
The water elemental's eyes widened. Weaving one segment on a partner's stole was akin to dating. Two segments were similar to a betrothal. Three segments were to show a more permanent union. But, four was unheard of. Far too over the top. Ridiculous.

"Maybe even five," the fire elemental added with a wide grin.

Deniz covered Azar's mouth with his hand. "Three are enough. Three are plenty," he admonished.

Azar was giddy. He managed to get Deniz to agree to three segments. The words had come right out of the nymph's mouth!

"Then, we'll weave in three," the fire elemental agreed. Until the new segments were completed, the two would wear one another's stoles. That was enough to let the other elementals know they were together as a couple.

"Good," the water nymph affirmed. "Now, which house are we going to sleep in tonight?"

::::

Azar was the most blessed elemental in the immortal realm. The nymph of his dreams lay partially sprawled on top of him in his bed, Den's eager tongue taking over his mouth as the fire elemental held his head in place and kissed him back. How many times did he pinch himself to prove it wasn't a dream? The salamander's breath hitched when Deniz's hand caressed the junction of his thigh and hip, fingers skirting along his member. Azar's free hand felt its way down Den's chest to gently tug and press on the nymph's nipple as they continued to kiss.

Deniz couldn't get enough of his partner's studded tongue. Every time he thought he'd gotten used to the sensation, the metal ball would drag along an unexpected section and cause a thrill to run down his spine. Then, in the salamander's excitement, the metal began to heat up. However, the nymph wasn't worried and used his power to cool it back down as he sought the fire elemental's chest.

The red-eyed salamander broke apart to kiss and suck on the nymph's neck. When his partner's hand slid back down to rub at his flesh, he reached over to squeeze the water elemental's ass. His fingers dipped along Den's entrance, and he let out a whimper when he found it coated with a special water that nymphs used to lubricate themselves. Deniz was not playing around.

Azar shifted them on the bed until the turquoise-eyed man was flat on his back beneath him. The water elemental's pale blue hair contrasted against the black satin pillowcase. Desperate, the salamander gathered all the other pillows and tucked them underneath Den's hips to raise them high. He then stretched the passage as Deniz stroked himself. When he finally buried himself within the nymph, he was only able to wait but a moment before he began to rock into the heat.

"Azar…" Deniz hissed as his turquoise eyes sought his partner's red ones. He bit his lower lip and released the hold on his own shaft just as Azar's thrusts pistoned harder into his depths. Once the salamander found his rhythm, Den again took hold of himself and stroked with abandon. "Don't stop!"

"Not planning to," Azar responded headily as he slammed faster and harder into the nymph. The sounds coming out of Den's mouth and his movements were enough to drive him wild. Not a single one of his dreams had been able to match the real deal.

"Fuck, Azar!" the water nymph keened as he suddenly released, spilling himself halfway into one of the fire elemental's thrusts. “Just keep going…til you cum…”

But Azar was right on his tail, slowing down to three sinuous thrusts as he burst inside his mate's slick cavern. "Deniz…" As the nymph said before, there was no going back for them. After all, it was only the beginning. The fire elemental gave Den a gentle kiss. Still, the water nymph didn't hesitate to suck on his tongue and completely take over.

"If you're this good at kissing," Deniz mused aloud. "I can't wait to find out what your tongue can do elsewhere."

"Give me another moment, and you'll soon find out."
