2015 poems - 11. La Luna

La Luna

Moonlight, like sunshine, pierces our earth anchored sky,

We think not of the consequences, the meaning of this sign.

Reflections of majesty, traveling through nothingness,

with the speed of a butterflies wing.

In the darkest night, she hangs above in serene majesty unseen.

When lite, she illuminates our darkened eyes, and shushes,

but for a moment the feverish mussing of our minds.

She gives food to life below, energy to those that seek it, and

inspiration to all who look upon her blesséd circlet form.

In her there is a unity of diversity, a balance and dance,

The million lights that pierce the sky can be seen only under iridescent light,

The burning children of the stars glimpsed, running across her ethereal domain.

La Luna, if burning gently, or hushed in night, or bisected by ocular dividing line,

turns day to night and sings the song of life.
