Grit What Didn't Kill Me Became Me

There are currently no reviews.
Sub-genres: Drama, Alternate, Vampires

Before Grithen was the guarded, stoic vampire readers met in What Didn’t Kill Me Became Me, he was Grit. A loud-mouthed, fire-eyed ACT UP activist during the HIV/AIDS crisis in 1980s New York, screaming for the dying and daring the world to listen.

This is the story of who he was. What he fought for. The best friend he loved... and lost.

The night that turned him into the ash of the man who once burned so bright.

This isn’t a happy story.

But it is Grit's story.

This story is a work of fiction. While inspired by real events and movements surrounding HIV/AIDS activism, particularly the work of ACT UP, the protest outside Trinity Church and all characters and incidents depicted here are fictional. Grit is written with deep respect for those who fought, endured, and refused to be silent during the AIDS crisis.

One use of a homophobic slur appears in this story, included to reflect the hostility queer activists faced during that era.
