The Golosina, the Forgotten Land and the Skurkene - 11. Chapter 11

Tav didn’t trust the giants. It wasn’t just Tav, Minnie was quiet but her worried frown said everything. Tav decided to get more paperwork off the giants and was gone for a while which worried Freddy.

There were many meetings in Vapaus going through each character’s story and which one to put forward for the giants. Eventually half way through the meeting, Tav turned up, with documents in hand, scattering them on the table.

‘What happened?’ Freddy asked, raising an eyebrow.

Tav just gave a little smirk, ‘I got my reassurances. That’s all.’

Minnie and Princess Beatty were looking at the table and found a script in the paper rumble. Picking it up, they both skimmed through it.

Looking up, Minnie said to Tav, ‘The giants were okay with this?’

‘It was almost a deal breaker. But I won.’

Princess Beatty and Minnie both looked at each other grinning.

‘Well,’ Princess Beatty held the script up. ‘This one wins. All agree?’

They passed the script round to every person on the table, the other creatures who had joined their meetings, the evil queens, the gnomes, the handsome princes.

Each person who read it smiled brightly and passed it on.

‘That’s great, guys,’ beamed Freddy, waiting for the script to come to him. ‘Excellent work team.’

He received the script and flipped through it. He stopped and stared.

Looking up at Tav, he faulted, ‘My story?’

My story, how rude,’ snorted Tav, putting his feet on the table. ‘It’s our story, Alfred, our story.’

‘Oh, uh he called him the wrong name,’ muttered Benjamin, while the rest of the table laughed.

‘Why not our story,’ Tav continued, folding his arms.

Freddy looked back down at the script, flipping through the pages, he stopped at the last page. Staring hard at it, he then gave a small smile.

‘This is an … interesting way to ask me, Tav.’

‘You don’t want to?’

‘Of course, yes. I mean, I do want to, very much,’ Freddy looked at him, softening his voice. ‘More than anything in the world. Can a wizard and prince even …?’

‘I actually researched before I put it forward,’ Tav said. ‘No legal reason why a wizard and prince can’t marry, it’s not gender or creation specific, so yeah. we can. The giants cannot dispute this. They did try very hard to though. They shouted so hard and loud I thought the world was going to explode. Too bad that didn’t scare me. They have now agreed to it after my hours of annoying them. So, now. It’s only if you want to, Freddy.’

Freddy smiled, laughed, shaking his head, ‘I never thought you would be the one asking. Always knew you were a secret romantic.’

‘This is a rare occasion, I'm not that nice.'

'How sweet, I love you, too.'

‘You guys need to get a room,’ Minnie pulled a face, making everyone laugh.

The wedding was set up in the hall, every creature is there, even individuals from other kingdoms have been welcomed in, coming in as friends of friends or dates for some of the creatures. The wedding had some angelic celebrational designs and parts of dark gothic patterns. The smells of freshly baked cake were strong in the air. People were starting to take their seats, couples from both Phaenomenon and Damp Cook were there. Some characters were talking and laughing from different worlds, there was princesses flirting with trolls and knights sharing jokes with each other. Witches were all taking part in making little fireworks, scattering the high ceilings in patterns and sparks.

Freddy was smartening up, wearing a very princely outfit with silver buttons. It had been a while since he dressed like this, like a royalty. He normally just wore plain clothing and got stuck in doing work. He saw a familiar individual come into the hall from the corner of his eye. She was wearing a white hood and trying to remain unnoticed.

Princess Keira.

Freddy’s heart sank.

He was technically married to her. He had completely forgotten about that. So, he wouldn’t be able to marry Tav. Forgot about that glitch.

Trying not to let the tsunami of sadness wallow him, he decided to approach Princess Keira alone. Maybe not make a big scene. No doubt she would be in her right to do so here.

‘Hi,’ he said, softly behind her.

Jumping, she turned around.

They both stared at each other not knowing what to say.

Eventually, Freddy said, ‘I’m sorry for how things were. It was never my intention to embarrass you.’

‘Well, you did that during my story so makes sense that you would keep on doing it,’ she looked away, shrugging her shoulders.

‘I know we are technically still married, so I can call this off, if you want to discuss this…’

Keira then went into her cloak and brought a file document. She handed it over to Freddy.

‘This isn’t a nice gesture,’ she said, keeping her hood up. ‘I met someone too. I need us both to be happy.’

Freddy opened up the file. Divorce documents. These documents were rare to get. She must have worked hard to obtained them as it was near impossible to get a divorce in Phaenomenon.

He smiled at her, ‘thank you.’ he paused. ‘Do you want to stay or?’

‘No, I’m good,’ she replied back. ‘You actually made me quite popular back home. It was fun being creative on my feet. Stressful, but fun.’ She gave a small smile. ‘Enjoy your day.’

Freddy nodded and watched her leaving.

Princess Beatty saw everything and rushed over. Grabbing his arm, she said in a hushed voice, ‘Hey. Are we good?’

Freddy showed her the documents, ‘We are perfect.’

Princess Beatty then smiled and then offered her arm, ‘Then we shall go. You know how irritated that wizard gets if you keep him waiting.’

‘Yeah, he is very annoying, isn’t he,’ grinned Freddy taking her arm.

Freddy walked down the aisle and saw Tav waiting for him. Tav was dressed in his best robes, his scales shining like the midnight sky. Tav smirked at everyone, his scales going dark and grey, and then his eyes fall on Freddy. His face softened and his scales changed to a sunset colour.

They stood next to each other while the sermon continued, giving each other side glances and nudges and pinches every now and then.

Their childish behaviour made Princess Beatty sigh out loud, rubbing her temples of her head in annoyance while Minnie grinned and massaged Princess Beatty’s shoulders to calm her down.

‘I now pronounce you husband and husband.’

Before anything can be said, Tav grabbed Freddy in a wild snatch and kissed him deeply. Freddy clung to him and kissed him right back.

That is the story of Prince Freddy and Tav the Wizard.

And, of course.

They all lived.

Happily.

Ever.

After.
