Family embrace - 4. The Sound of the Ultimate Sacrifice

This poem is dedicated to all the men and women of the armed service.

The Sound of the Ultimate Sacrifice,

Through trembling night, the bugle weeps, A mournful cry where silence sleeps.
Soft notes drift- then rise then fall Another farewell whispered, a solemn call of the ultimate sacrifice.

Beyond the ridge, where banners lay, The wailing wind and sorrow stay.
For every tear, a mother's cry, Her sacrifice etched in the sky.

For every tear that streaks the land, A brother's oath- no soldier left behind.
A steady hand in duty sworn,
Though life is harsh and hearts are torn.

This ties the solemn oath of Taps.
Another note, another breath- Another soldier giving their all their ultimate. Their life.
So, I can walk the Halls of Freedom.

Taps still lingers, raw and bright, a ghost of ultimate grief. An unshed tear- a family's own sacrifice,
A daughter or son left to bear the unfair cost- A voice in flight.
Not lost nor forgotten, nor gone. Forever here, in the haunting notes of the ultimate oath of Taps and fallen tears.

I wanted too personally thank all of the brave men and women who serve our country and keep it safe.
