Moving Forward - 43. Chapter 43 (10.2)
Moments later, Denver texted to say he’d be late getting to the pool, but he’d meet them up there. That settled it, as far as Marshall was concerned.
“I’m going to take out stuff down now and get it out of the way,” he said. “That way, we don’t have to worry about it later, and if we’re having fun, it’s not hanging over our heads. I don’t want to worry about having a few drinks because I need to do the laundry, you know?”
Lee couldn’t argue with that logic, but he didn’t seem happy about it nonetheless. “All right, but just drop it off and come right back,” he said.
“I will,” Marshall promised.
“Got change for soap powder and fabric softener?”
Marshall jingled the coins in his pocket. “Yep, got plenty. Also got my key card and my phone,” he added, to forestall any other questions Lee might have. He knew Lee worried, and with reason, but he was a big boy, and he wasn’t going that far.
Marshall hefted the bag which contained their dirty clothes. “Feel like doing some more hot tubbing tonight?” he asked.
“Absolutely,” Lee replied without hesitation. “You really like that, don’t you?”
“What’s not to like? Hot water and you naked.” Marshall grinned. “Want to take advantage of that while we can, you know.”
“I agree,” Lee said. “Maybe we should look into getting one of our own when we get home?”
That would be something, wouldn’t it? With the weather as nice as it was, they could probably use it most of the year, if they didn’t want to enclose it.
“If they’re not too expensive, hell yeah.” He had a feeling if he really wanted one, Lee’d get it for him. Roy’d probably appreciate it too.
“Be back in a few, assuming there’s any room to do ours,” Marshall said. “For all we know, maybe everyone else had the same idea. I can’t wait to try out the pool. I hope there’s room to actually do some swimming. I’d like to do more than get my toes wet.”
Lee grinned. “Depends on how many guys are up there to swim, and how many just want to show off what they have in a swim suit and see who they can pick up.”
“I’m glad I don’t have that problem.” Marshall leaned in to Lee and kissed him. “I have everything I need right here.”
“Flattery will get you everywhere.” Lee lightly swatted Marshall’s ass. “Go on now, I’ll feel better about this when you get back here.”
“I’ll be fine, don’t worry,” Marshall assured him. One more kiss and he was out the door. He heard it lock securely behind him. He stopped to remember where he’d seen the laundry area, then remembered it was marked on the wall. When in doubt, read. Duh.
It was a little farther than he thought, but still not too far. It was a brightly lit room, not too claustrophic, and it held seven washers and seven dryers, plus tables for folding, and a few chairs. A few of the washers were in use, but he only needed one between the two of them, so that was perfect.
Marshall looked around the room and found the dispenser. He pushed a few coins in and got a small package of detergent in return. He carried his laundry bag to the nearest empty washer and studied the instructions. Not exactly brain surgery. He added the detergent, then the clothes, than started it. According to the digital timer, it would take 27 minutes. He made a mental note to return then.
No sense in hanging around here. He could go back to the cabin and wait down there a lot more comfortably then sitting here. Besides which, if he stayed more than a few minutes, Lee’d be down here looking for him and he knew it.
He heard someone enter the room. Time for him to get going. He started to move past the newcomer, but was dismayed by the sight of a familiar face.
Dustin.
