Little Life of Nolan Parks - 27. Sterling - Never Too Late
Enjoy!
Tobi's POV
Damn, that really just happened. Connor and I are... we're boyfriends. This makes me even happier than I thought it would. I'm overjoyed with how this turned out. Connor and I...
My mood got interrupted by a knock on the front door. It wasn't just a simple knock; it was someone slamming their fist against the door. I couldn't see who it was out my window; they were under the porch's roof.
I made my way downstairs and looked through the eye hole. It was Sterling! What did he want? He knocked on the door again. The knock surprised me, and I found myself on the floor from a loss of balance.
That thud I made... Sterling must have heard it. “I heard that Tobi!” He yelled from the other side of the door. At least he's kind enough not to barge into people's houses. I got up and opened the door. “Trying to sneak off?”
“You knocked when I was looking out the peephole. You scared me and threw me off balance.” He rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. “What do you want Sterling?”
“What was the loser doing here?” Two things here: 1. Was He watching Connor? And 2. I hate that I translate “loser” to Connor.
I gave him my signature death glare. “He's not a loser, and he had something he wanted to talk to me about.”
“What was it about?” Sterling took a step forward. I stood my ground.
“None of your business.” Sterling stared at me for a few seconds. “What?”
“You two are fucking.” How the living fuck does someone determine that?
I actually let out a laugh. “Excuse me? Who the hell do you think you are?”
Sterling grabbed my crotch and whispered into my ear. “The boy who fucked you till you screamed for more.” He's not wrong on that point,... I did do that once. When we were home alone, and he was really going at it.
He started massaging my groin. I could feel it growing as he did. “Stop it!” I pushed away from him. “I told you, Sterling; I'm done. I don't want anything to do with you anymore. Go home.”
You could see the transition in his face. It went from horny to confused to angry in little to no time. “Whatever Tobias. Come tomorrow everyone at school is going to know about you and your fuck buddy.”
“You were my fuck buddy Sterling. If you call us out, I'll call you out.” I was dead serious when I said it the first time. This second time, I have the bullet loaded.
Sterling gave chuckled. “You used that last time. Without that how will you protect your friends?”
“You still don't get it, Sterling. You'll be too busy with yourself to handle us.” Sterling tried to brush it off. “I know you; I would like to think, fairly well. You'll be busy denying others and trying to get yourself a girlfriend to have time for us. Face it, Sterling, me telling the school you've fucked me has way to much cleanup work for you.”
He knew I was right; I could see it in his face. Sterling didn't say anything. He just stomped away. It was quite the sight to see. What's going to happen, I wonder... Whatever it is, it won't be pretty.
Connor's POV
Another day of school. This time, though it's different. I'm really happy today. Everyone kept looking at me and at this moment I really didn't care. I have a boyfriend, and it's great! I mean we only started dating last night but still.
Only Randy was standing by the gym doors when I got there. “Hey, where's Richie?”
“He, Dylan and the coach all went out for breakfast.” Cool. “That left me to come to school alone.”
“How come you couldn't go? It seems silly that Richie would go without you. Coach seems like the kind of guy to include you too.”
“I was invited but didn't feel like I belong at the breakfast. I don't know, just seemed out of place is all.” Randy shrugged. “Do you know where anyone else is?”
“Nope, no idea.” I sat down on the ground leaning against the wall. We hung out there for a little while, but no one ended up joining us. I kept a look out for Tobi.
Randy kept looking down at me. He seemed like he wanted to say something but never did. We just kept to ourselves as we waited for our friends to show up.
Ever since Nolan and Henry got me to join in their group of friends I've felt like I was just there. Henry tries his best to get me into the conversation, and I greatly appreciate it. Tobi has done projects and more outside of school stuff than the others. He's just... he's reached out more to me overall.
“Who's your best friend, Connor?” Randy randomly knocked me out of my train of thought.
I looked up at him. “Why do you ask?”
He shrugged. “Well, you've been a loner for the entire time I've known you. I just wanted to get to know you better.”
“Oh...” I thought about it for a moment. Who is my best friend? I mean it used to be Grace, but it's been forever since we hung out. I guess I could say Tobi but is that too obvious? Henry is really nice to me at school... so which one is it?
Randy waved his hand in front of my face. “Earth to Connor. What's gotten into you?”
“I was just thinking... I'm not sure who my best friend is.”
“That's okay; you don't need to have a best friend, just a bunch of good friends is fine too.” Ya, I guess that's true. “I mean I couldn't tell you who my best friend is either. So we're even!” We shared a giggle. Oh, Randy...
“You're really something aren't you?” I said in jest.
Randy sounded like he took a lot of offense to it. “Excuse me!?” I was about to apologize, but he continued. “I am everything, of course, I'm something!” Okay, I'm safe this time at least. I think I could really become good friends with Randy.
And just as I thought this day was going good, Sterling comes storming around the corner. Once his eyes met mine, the anger in his face was very clear. I couldn't take my eyes away from his. That is until Randy stood in front of me.
“What do you want Sterling?” Randy snarled at him.
“Get out of my way Randy.” Sterling continued his march down the hallway.
Randy shook his head. “Hell no! Connor is my friend, and you're going to leave him alone.” He stood his ground. I didn't know what to do. I just stayed sitting on the ground stunned.
“That little fucker...” Sterling trailed off. “Just move it twiny!” He went to push Randy out of the way, but he barely moved. Like, Sterling lost his balance but Randy stood almost still.
“Seriously 'twiny' is the best thing you can come up with?” Randy chuckled. “I may not look it, but I'm not a weakling Sterling. Leave us alone!”
“Just move!” He tried again to move Randy out of the way and again failed. “God fucking damn it!! Move!!” Sterling was growing more and more furious as he stood there.
“What do you want with Connor!?” Someone screamed from down the hall. I turned to see Tobi even angrier storming down the hall. “Why can't you just leave him alone Sterling?”
Before I knew it, he was there, in front of me as well. I don't know why this is happening, but it is. Sterling... what is he trying to accomplish by doing this? Why am I his worst enemy?
Sterling just stared at Tobi, more enraged than before. “Tobi...” He growled.
“Leave us alone, Sterling.” Tobi and Sterling had a standoff.
Sterling growled and yelled, “Get out of my way faggot!”
“Takes one to know one!” Tobi screamed back. This is the time I just noticed that there was a huge group of people surrounding us, staring at Tobi and Sterling. “That's right I just said that Sterling!”
“Fuck you, Tobias.” Was all I could hear from Sterling. He didn't sound angry anymore. He sounded frightened... afraid. “You can go fuck yourself.” And like that he stormed off.
“What's going on here?” A teacher came and broke up the crowd. Tobi grabbed my arm and pulled me away from our spot, with the huge crowd dispersing. You can bet that this is going to go around school. More than likely by the end of first block.
Liam's POV
“Liam can you come out here for a minute?” Mom called me out to the living room.
I walked out into the living room, seeing my mom on the couch in that 'it's time to talk' look to her. I hate this look in people. It gives you the worse feelings. Like what happened? Am I in trouble? Is this the sex talk!? AGAIN!?
Yep, these are the things going through my head. “Ya, mom. What's up?”
“Sit down.” again, worse thing to say. I mean, that's when you know shit is serious now. 'Sit down we need to talk' god dammit it. “We need to talk.” See! It's like I can tell you the future!
“What's going on?” I asked as I sat down. Cliche, I know, moving on. “Why is it just us out here?”
“Well, Leif and Nolan are still sleeping.” I looked at the time for the first time today. School starts in 10 minutes. “I figured you three could use a day off from school.”
“Okay, but why do we need to talk?”
Mom sighed. “Your father has threatened to file for custody of you two.” If I were just a few years older, I would have fucking none of this.
“I'm not living with him.”
“Calm down Liam...”
“How can I calm down mom!? After what he's done, how can you expect me to be calm?” No way, no way in hell Leif is going back to him. I won't let it happen. The police will have to handcuff me to a pipe before I let that happen.
“I know... Like I said, he's threatened to, hasn't actually done it yet.” I sat there in my rage and listened. “He wants to talk to you, alone.”
“And if I don't want to talk to him?”
“He'll file the suit.” Blackmail, really dad? How low can a guy get? “I do not know what he wants to say, or why he wants to talk with you. I just... I don't know the outcome to this if you don't.”
“So you're gonna force me to talk to him?”
“No, I won't make you. That wouldn't be fair, and I told him that. You want to know his reply?” I nodded. “I just need to hear Liam tell me something I need to hear. That's what he said.”
What the hell does that mean? 'Something I need to hear'... “I don't get it...”
“Neither do I. He's requested the last day of Nolan's trial.”
Nope. Not happening. “I'm there for Nolan. I'm not skipping out on him.”
“Go...” I heard Nolan's voice from behind me.
“When did you wake up honey?” Mom asked him.
He yawned. “Just now... You should go, Liam. I'll have Henry with me. I'll be fine promise.” Nolan...
“The only reason I'd go is to yell at him...”
Nolan smiled. “Maybe that's what he needs to hear.” Why would he need to hear from me how horrible I think he is? He should already know. Nothing I say should change his mind.
“Fine... I'll go.”
