Angst - 2. Film Noir

Lone streetlight flickering outside a window as the rain falls steadily

Sound of lonely footsteps walking unhurried toward a nameless end

Collar turned up against the rain, hat pulled down against the light

Lightning flashes reflecting upon the wet pavement…stopping his steps

Desires, dark, hard-edged and raw flicker with the light’s rhythm

Entwining with his fantasies, driving them hard into the night

Hand in pocket, fingers twitching as they seek the cool steel

Fondling gently, savoring the sleekness, stroking the fine edge…like a lover

A hint of curtains flapping like bats’ wings at the edges of a window

Soft light piercing the drawn shade, suggestion of shadows dancing in silhouette

Thunder rolling in cadence with the throbbing in his head, the pounding in his body

Fingers gripping the sharpness, squeezing, squeezing, squeezing…until blood runs
