Angst - 4. Nothing

I’m sorry, baby

fingers wiping the blood from my lip

lips kissing me very gently

I didn’t mean to do that

You know I wouldn’t want to hurt you

I’m very sorry, baby

turquoise eyes

concerned, contrite, convincing

It’s nothing

I know you didn’t mean it

smiling into those eyes

it wasn’t much.

just a little cut

it was nothin

g

Yeah, I’m ok

it was nothing.

I’m sorry, baby

fingers running through my hair

It’s ok, Dale

nothing broken

only bleeding

my own fault.

none of my business.

shouldn’t have asked.

I shouldn’t have hit you

turquoise eyes

concerned, contrite, convincing

It’s nothing

I know you didn’t mean it.

fingers pulling my hair a little.

not meaning to pull so hard.

You know how important you are to me.

I’m sorry baby.

trying to stand up

hands on my arms,

helping me to my feet

I’m very sorry, baby

cold washcloth on my face

brushing over my lips

blood

pressing against my nose

broken

I’ll make it up to you

pulling me close to him

hands stroking my hair gently.

I never meant to hurt you

looking up at him

head swimming

turquoise eyes

concerned, contrite, convincing

It’s nothing

I know you didn’t mean it

closing my eyes

room spinning

I’m sorry Dale

Where were you?

turquoise eyes

hard, cold

I just went to the store—

backhand across the mouth

Don’t lie to me!

Dale, please, I—

no time to answer

Shut up, bitch!

I’m not good enough for you?

Who the fuck do you think you are?

pushing my face down on the counter.

blood dripping onto the countertop.

hurting, crying out

I told you to shut the fuck up!

pushing my face down on the counter

holding it there

hurting, silent, waiting

watching the blood spread on the counter,

watching the patterns it made,

watching as it swirled in circles,

watching as lines crossed those circles.

waiting for him to be done

.

looking in the bathroom mirror

dark green eyes

empty

wiping the blood from my face

just a bloody nose

nothing major.

nothing to get all worked up about.

nothings everywhere

nothing to get worked up about

nothing major

nothing behind the eyes

Who the fuck do you think you are?

nothing
