Life - 2. Perspective

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

But this I’ve always had to ponder,

for if such is true then how can you find

that if something’s out of sight it is out of mind?

Birds of a feather flock together,

but doesn’t that make you wonder whether

it can possibly be an undeniable fact

that opposites are bound to attract?

How can we repeat with any sense of conviction

these “old sayings” filled with such strong contradiction?

Can something and its opposite both be true?

Or does it just depend on your point of view?

If I see the sunset and you see the sunrise.

is it the same event seen through different eyes?

Perhaps our perception is always selective,

and everything truly does depend on perspective.
