Growing up happens differently for everyone. Finding yourself takes time, and for some of us it's not an easy process. Sometimes it can happen fast, all too fast. Sometimes we let parts of ourselves stray behind. Sometimes things must get worse before they can get better. Sometimes much, much worse. But these are the things that define us. That much, at least, St. John Allerdyce knows. But it's one thing to know something and another to live through it.

This story is a piece of X-men fanfiction in the form of a series of diary entries (some short, some rather long) written by St. John Allerdyce, the mutant known as Pyro. Set in the Movieverse, it draws upon canon from the comics to inform characters personalities and histories, and to reasonably structure their lives after the Cure War in X3 (or whatever ends up happening in the post-Days of Future Past universe). St. John can be rather ill-tempered and foul-mouthed, so expect a profuse amount of swearing when he's in a bad mood, and a rather high level even when he's in a good mood, especially at the beginning of the story. It will lighten over time as St. John comes to term with his life.
