"Tell the Camera You Love Me" tells the tragic story of how a survivor of child sexual abuse overcomes the pain from his early years by finally recognizing and embracing unqualified love.
Neil is dying of cancer. Riddled with the psychological pain of being abused as a kid and the knowledge that his rejection was perhaps the cause of a former lover's suicide, he forces himself to watch a video he filmed when he took his lover's virginity seeking some sort of expiation of his guilt. What he encounters instead is an epiphany that he did experience love in his life, that is was real, and he finds healing through that realization.
This story alludes to "off-screen" child sexual abuse suffered by the narrator and the "off-screen" suicide of one of the main characters. There is also a description of cannabis use. Please do not read this story if these subject matters are upsetting or offensive to you.
