Waking up between his friends was still something that shocked David, even if it did make him feel safe and cared for. He had come to love it, but it still made him blush every time one of them woke up with a morning erection. Usually, it was one of the twins that was sporting morning wood.

He was used to waking up between them though, hardly blushing about it at all, only really doing so if one of them decided that they needed to rub up against him as they woke up. He had taken to waking up before them, or the alarm, so he could escape the uncomfortable situation. He also woke up early so he could finish any bits of his homework that he still waited to do or to work on his school projects.

Rubbing at his eyes to get them free of the cobwebs of sleep, he noticed that there was still 30 minutes before his alarm was set to go off. With a long stretch of his muscles and a soft moan of delight as several cracks happened in the silence of the room, he jump started his mind and woke completely up. Wiggling out of Markus' embrace, he made sure that he didn't wake either of them before standing next to the bed, his hair sticking up in various directions. Looking over at them, he snorted, finding Markus had gone from laying on his own pillow to burying his face into Davids pillow as his brother flopped onto his back, muttering in his sleep at losing his David shaped heater.

Shaking his head once more, David moved over to his closet and shifted through his clothing, trying to decide if he wanted to wear his bell bottom jeans or a pair that were tight enough that they seemed to be painted on. Finally just going with the bell bottoms and a dark cream shirt, he headed to the bathroom to shower and get ready for the day.

Coming out of the bathroom about 10 minutes later, his hair hanging in his face and his eyes lined in a light grey liner, David sniffed the air, smelling freshly cooked eggs. Smiling to himself, he headed back into his room, finding Edward sitting before the open window, cigarette in hand. David waved at him in greeting, twitching his mouse to wake up his computer before once more turning to his friend.

"Why are you up?" he asked, smiling at the half awake glare he got in return. "I've never known you to get out of bed until the alarm goes off or until you're good and ready to."

"I got up because my teddy bear walked off, cherie," Edward muttered before taking a drag off of his cigarette and pointedly ignoring the snickerign that came from David. Grumbling about his cuddles being broken up, with a few not so nice words in a language that David could only guess as a bent version of French, Edward turned his eyes back to the outside world beyond the window.

Rolling his eyes, David turned back to his computer and frowned at the screen, finding that once more someone had opened an article on it. This time, it was somewhat good news but the fact that it had been on his computer was something that would still drive him up a wall.

Girl Wakes Up From A Two Year Coma he read to himself, his frown deepening as he sat back in his chair, hand scrubbing at his hair in agitation, mussing the dark locks. Edward looked over at the quite mutters of a ‘jack ass hacker who doesn’t understand that they needed to fuck off’ that were coming from David. Another line about a keyboard and said hackers’ ass made him choke on his next drag as he saw David open up his virus scanner to run it once more.

“I didn’t know you knew those words,” Markus teased from the bed, his voice sleep roughened. David sent a glare towards him before turning back to his computer to try to figure out how the hell someone kept hacking his computer the way they did. Shaking his head, Markus slid out of bed and grabbed his overnight bag, heading for the bathroom as Edward just watched his twin with curious eyes.

Ten minutes later, David was found to be shoving his homework into his backpack as Markus walked back into the bedroom. Edward had wandered downstairs a few minutes earlier to hunt down coffee before getting dressed. Looking up, the younger male smiled softly at Markus before turning to his computer and printing out the newest article to take with him to read over.

Markus just watched as David methodically chose a folder and placed the printed articles into it before sliding the folder into his bag. Shaking his head, he grabbed his pack of cigarillos and pushed them into his back pocked before putting his brothers pack of cigarettes into one of the overnight bags. After that was done, Markus once more looked over at David and smiled as the latter locked his computer completely, determined that no one would be able to hack into his computer while he was at school.

“David! Markus! Come get breakfast before Edward eats it all!” Maria yelled up the stairs, David looking up and at the door before turning to Markus with a slight smile.

“So, ready to face my dear fathers’ staring?” he asked, his tone light and teasing. Markus rolled his eyes and grabbed the two overnight bags before waving a hand towards the bedroom door.

“Lead the way, chérie,” Markust replied, smirking at the pout the nickname got. David stood up and grabbed his own backpack before heading out of the door, Markus trailing behind him.

”No calling me chérie. Just how many times do I have to tell that to you two?” he muttered as he headed down the stairs, his feet making very soft thuds on the carpeted stairs. Markus just looked on with a smug expression on shi face, not bothering to answer. Their teasing had long since become a tradition between the three friends.

“Hello, Mrs. Benbitz, Mr. Benbitz,” Markus greeted, nodding at David’s parents as the boys walked into the dinning room. Maria looked up from where she was putting a stack of pancakes onto the table in front of Aaron and nodded at Markus, a bright smile on her lips.

“Hello, Markus. How did you sleep, dear?” she asked as she went about putting the rest of the food onto the table, including a platter of eggs, bacon and toast. She had three growing teens at her table and was determined to not let them go away hungry.

Markus smirked and sat down next to Aaron, David taking a seat between him and Edward. Taking a sip of the hot, sweet coffee that he had made, he paused before answering her. “I slept fine. Are you using that one herbal softener again?” he asked as she placed a plate in front of him. She beamed and nodded in answer as she moved around the table.

“Yes, I am. I bought quite a few bottles this time so I highly doubt that I’ll be running out anytime soon,” she told him as she sat down. David reached for the syrup, watching as his mother made small talk with Markus. Pouring a bit of the rich, red syrup onto his small pile of pancakes, tuning out the words around him, he handed the syrup over to Markus before grabbing a few slices of bacon and a couple of pieces of toast.

The sound of small talk and silverware against places filled the small room, the talk coming mostly from Markus and Maria and occasionally from Edward and David. Aaron just grunted and read the morning newspaper, ignoring the twins for the most part. After some time, the plates were finally empty, the food was gone and the three young males were complementing Maria on a wonderful breakfast as they helped her clean up the dishes.

“You three should get going if you want to get to school on time,” she finally said, shooing them out of her kitchen with rib cracking hugs for them all. “David, do you have your money for lunch?” she asked.

“Yes, mom, I do,” he replied, showing her the cash that he was putting into his front pocket. “By mom,” he said, waving as the three grabbed their bags. Leaving the house, they slid into the twins’ car, a cute little red thing that they had brought back from the edge of the scrap heap. Sliding into the back seat, he settled back and smiled as his mother waved at them from the front door.

“Your mother still seems to like us,” Edward said, starting the car and pulling out into the street, turning towards the school.

“She does, and you know it. She once said that you two bring me out of my shell more then anyone else then she’s ever known,” David told them, Markus turning in the passenger side seat and looking at David with curiosity in his eyes.

“Do we now?” he asked, David smiling and nodding at him.

“Yeah,” he said. “You know that I lived in Flagstaff before moving down here right? I went to Mount Elden Middle School and had no real friends, only acquaintances,” he continued, Markus nodding and turning around to face the windshield, looking out to the sky.

“Looks like a small storm is moving in finally,” he said after a few moments of silence, his voice cutting over the sound of the wind whistling along the car. David looked out of the side window and spotted the same dark clouds that Markus was pointing at.

“Great, looks like I get to put the windshield wiper on earlier then I was actually planning,” Edward grumbled, glaring at the bent wiper that sat on the left side.

“You two never did tell me what happened to that wiper,” David said, smirking at the two as they groaned softly.

“I had hoped you would have forgotten about that,” Markus said, sounding as if he was pouting behind the hand that he had slapped onto his face.

“Nope, now tell me,” David demanded, bouncing lightly in his seat, hair moving with his movements.

“Fine, fine,” Edward said, laughing at David’s enthusiasm. “Markus here had taken out a very nice girl, or so he thought. Twenty minutes into the date, she starts talking about going out some more. Markus didn’t think anything of it at the time.” David turned his eyes to Markus and raised an eyebrow.

“That doesn’t sound too bad so far,” he said, causing the light haired male to groan again.

”And it wouldn’t have been, if not for the fact that she jumped straight from future dates to marriage,” Markus said, wrinkling his nose in disgust. “I ended up telling her that I was by no means ready to settle down, much less date a single person all of the damn time. She freaked out and called me a player and an ass who thinks with his dick more than with his head.”

David tried hard not to laugh but a soft snicker escaped his lips even though he had clamped them shut with his teeth.

“She also dumped a dish with red marinara sauce onto his brand new cream colored shirt before storming out of the restaurant,” Edward added. David finally lost his battle with his laughter and broke into a fit, holding his stomach as he curled up in the seat. After a few moments, he stopped laughing and wiped away the tears that had escaped. He noticed that they were at a light and turned to Markus again.

“So, how does this relate to the bent wiper?” he asked, still giggling slightly. Markus groaned again and shook his head.

“After trying hard to get the sauce off of my shirt, I finally just pay the bill, apologize to the manager, getting a free dinner for two by the way, and head to the car where I find her bending the wiper,” he said, shaking his head. “I stopped her before she could take a bat to the headlights. And no, I don’t know where she got the bat. She’s now waiting for her sentence for destruction of private property, attempted destruction of private property and being a public nuisance.”

David started to laugh once more, causing the twins to smile at the fact that the young male could still laugh after the tension that morning. A few minutes later, he sat up in his seat, wiping his eyes and looking out of the window to find out how close to the school they were. He smiled as they pulled into the parking lot of Kofa High School.

“I need to swing by the front office today. You guys wanna come with?” he asked as they parked in a vacant spot, Edward putting the car into park before turning it off.

“What do you need to do there?” Markus asked, unbuckling his seatbelt and turned to David who was holding out their backpacks with a smile. Taking his, he cocked an eyebrow at the mischievous smile.

”I need to find out where my computer class partner has been the last few days since he hasn’t been coming around to class,” he said innocently. The twins nodded, sharing a look before getting out, Markus pulling his seat forward so his friend could get out.

“And then you plan on doing what?” Edward asked warily. Straightening his shirt out, David just smiled at him.

“I plan on asking him why he hasn’t been in class and what he plans to do in relation to our project,” he said. “Like hell I plan on doing it all by myself and let him get his credits without him doing anything at all.”

Shaking his head, Markus snickered as he remembered the last time someone had tried to do just that to David. The guy had ended up failing the class and got glared at by everyone one knew David, which had turned out to be quite a few people. The young male had very few close friends, but everyone knew about him due to the fact that he called Edward and Markus best friends.

“What?” Edward asked his twin, almost feeling as if he missed something important.

“Nothing, dear brother, nothing at all,” Markus drawled, watching David head for the side doors of the school.

“It’s not nothing. Now, what is it?” Edward asked, willing to pester his brother into telling him. He growled unhappily when Markus just walked away, following after David.

“The last time someone tried to have chérie do all of the work, he ended up failing the class while David ended up with all of the credit, remember?” Markus finally asked, having caught the slightly homicidal look in his brothers eyes.

“I see. Was it that one quarterback that had ended up being kicked off the team for that stunt?” Edward asked after a moment.

“Yes it was,” Markus replied, his voice smug. Edward let loose with a laugh that carried through the halls, causing quite a few people to turn and look at them. Shaking their heads, they jogged to catch up with David who was pulling open the door to the front office. Catching the door before it closed behind him, they slipped in and noticed that a girl was standing there talking to the receptionist, who in turn was staring at her like he didn’t know what to do with her.

“Look, I just want to know where the hell Clary is and if he’s called in or not,” she said, her voice rising in pitch as she snarled.

“And I keep telling you that I can’t give you that information,” the receptionist replied, his voice disgusted for some reason that the four couldn’t figure out.

“Why can’t you?” she demanded.

“You know why, Miss, Maghaun. I can’t give out student information to another student,” he said, glaring at her. “Now, if you can move aside, I need to get to the other people who are patiently waiting in queue for you to quit having your temper tantrum in front of my desk.

Glaring at the uncooperative employee in front of her, she turned around and nearly walked into David. With a muttered apology, she walked around him and slammed out of the office, leaving David to look bewildered as he walked up to the counter and shook his head.

“Um, I was wondering if you can tell me whether someone had been calling in sick or nort,” David asked the guy who looked him over with dark eyes.

“Perhaps. Depends on if that’s all you want to know,” he said, turning his chair slightly to the side so that he was facing his computer.

“Yeah, I have his address, but I don’t really want to chew him out if he has a good excuse for not being here,” David replied, leaning against the counter, feeling Markus and Edward move to stand on either side of him.

“Name?” the receptionist asked him. Pulling out a small piece of paper from a side pocket in his bag, he opened it up, reading the name and address before smiling at the other man.

“Uh, Clary McNamin,” he said after figuring out how to say his name. The man before him typed it into the computer and smiled.

“It seems as if he’s been on medical leave for a broken leg for the last bit,” he told David before closing out the screen. “That’s all I can tell you though.”

“That was all I needed to know, thanks,” David said, shoving the piece of paper back into his bag before turning to the twins. “Shall we go to class?” he asked, getting a nod from Edward as he lead the way to the door, opening it for his companions. David walked out of the door with Markus, leaving it to slowly swing shut behind them, their conversation drifting to the sharp eared receptionist.

“So, chérie, when do you want to head to this Clary’s home?” Markus asked, watching the way David was walking. His steps were quick, making the twins lengthen their own long legged strides to keep up with him. He stopped in front of his locker and quickly worked the lock open, his movements jerky.

“I was thinking about doing it after school, that is if you guys don’t mind,” he said, Markus and Edward sharing a look before turning to him.

“We don’t mind. Perhaps we can continue your driving lessons,” Edward suggested while his brother nodded in agreement.

“Sounds good to me. But for now,” David said, pulling out two of his text books from his bag and shoving them into the locker, “we have a Math test today and I need to make sure that I have all the necessary notes.” Grabbing two binders from his locker, one red and the other green, he shoved them into his bag and zipped it up. Slamming the locker door close, he headed off towards the classroom, laughing at the moan coming from Edward about tests.

Back in the office, the receptionist sat back in his seat, his dark eyes filled with sadness and worry. Sighing softly, he shook his head and nibbled on the butt of his pen as he watched the three friends disappear around a corner.

“I hope you heed your mothers’ warnings well, tiny one. They will keep you alive as you look for your answers,” he said softly to himself in the empty office. “You need all the help you can get, especially in this town and with the darkness that is spreading.”
