Young Words From An Old Heart - 1. Chapter 1: Not

Not

By bugeye

Not
A care in the world
Not a care
When whirled
Not
A tear in the heart
Not a tear
Why start
Not
A dare too bold
Not a dare
How hot and cold
Not
A stare can hold
Not a stare
Besotted
But not old

There is beauty
As light flirts with shadow
Across an odd collection
Of this and that
So like you and me
The interplay

Either give
Or not
Bargain or take
Or not
With love
Or not
A choice
Or not

What a strange day
The more I play
The more I stay
Transfixed at bay
Wishing only to lay
About with...

Knowledge of self
Aware not
Fool not

I liked this poem

Or not

- Actually I really liked this! A few thoughts that came to me:

I'm always fascinated of the opposites, but mixing the opposites the diversity is created. In my mind that means the flirt between light and shadows. Also you played very creatively with the options: making a choice creates yet another options, multiple options in a never ending cycle.

"Not" is such an interesting word, is it not?

I just re-read this. I'm still in love with the first part.

My mind keep returning to the concept of unrequited love. Dunno why.
