Love Bite - 11. Chapter 11

Tyler’s POV

We found a house that fit both Damon’s style and mine. I had plenty of room to run in my bear form. Plus it's close enough I can visit Jon and Tim, along with the rest of my family. I saw the sadness in Damon’s eyes when he saw me with my brothers and I wished Nique was there with us.

We got back to the real estate office and after all the paperwork was filled out and the offer forwarded to the owner, we left. I couldn’t wait to hear whether our offer was accepted or not.

We got in the car and Damon turned to me before he said, “Cariad, let’s go to my storage facility and choose our furniture for the new house. If you want we can go to the house in Seattle and you can pick anything you want from there as well.”

“I can’t handle that house right now with the memory of the fight and losing Nique there. I know I hadn’t known her for long, but I formed a bond with her in the little bit of time I was with her.”

“Okay, then we’ll just use the storage unit.”

Damon put the car in gear and we were on the road towards Seattle in no time.

We arrived at a large storage facility and Damon drove the car around to the back of the property. When we pulled up I noticed these units looked like their own warehouses.

"Damon why are we back here?"

"Well, we're going to look at my furniture stored here to see what we want in the new house."

"Why do you need a warehouse?"

"Well, Nique and I have had several different houses in the area and felt it would be a good idea to have some place locally to store everything that wasn't in use so it would be easier to search for something when the time came."

"I can't believe you would have enough furniture to require this big of space." I shook my head in disbelief.

"There are also cars stored here as well. Didn't want Spencer to know for sure which vehicles were ours if we could help it."

He unlocked the door and led me inside. My jaw dropped as I looked around, I couldn’t believe what I saw. I did not expect so much. There were five vehicles and row after row of furniture separated by what looked like room type.

I walked away and started with the first section that looked like living room furniture. I wanted something simple, not antique. On about the third row, I found what I was looking for. It was a sofa love seat set in deep burgundy with a matching recliner. I was shocked he had such a set since everything I had seen in the two houses had been antiques. I found the coffee table with matching end tables further down the row. Even though these appeared to be old, they weren’t so old I would be afraid to break one of them. I pointed them out to Damon and he took some tags he had picked up from somewhere along the way and tagged the furniture so it would be easier for the movers to grab the right stuff.

“I hope you have a bedroom set like the one you had at the house in Wales,” I stated as we moved onto bedroom furniture. “Are we going to furnish all the bedrooms right now or hold off on one or two for children’s rooms?”

“I think for now we can furnish and when we are ready for children we can move the furniture back here and set them up with children in mind. This way we have plenty of rooms when your family comes over.”

“Hmm, I was thinking set one up as a nursery now so when Jon and Tim come to spend the night we have somewhere for Jasmine to sleep as well.”

“I hadn’t thought about that and you’re right we should have somewhere for her to sleep. We’ll have to get that from the store. We don’t have anything here that would work for her.”

I found a set I absolutely adored. It was a California King four poster bed in a dark mahogany with what looked like rose petals along the baseboards. I pointed them out to Damon and said, “I want this bed and the matching dressers.”

He nodded and tagged the set. We continued until we had all the furniture, but the nursery picked out. It took us a couple of hours to go through everything. He even had me pick out a car for myself. I chose his 2012 Toyota Tundra, figured it would help when we went shopping for the nursery furniture.

It was as we got in the vehicles that Damon’s phone rang.

“Hello…Yes, this is he…Alright, we can be there in about an hour…Yes, thank you, Lisa…Good-bye.” He hung up the phone and looked at me. “We got the house Cariad. We have to sign the papers and give them the certified check, then it will be all ours. Let’s leave the truck here and we’ll come back and get it once we get the insurance and the updated registration for it.”

“Sounds like a good plan to me. Let’s go.” I could hardly contain my excitement, we were about to sign the papers for the house of my dreams.

We pulled up in front of the real estate office after a stop at the bank to get the certified check. My nerves rankled at the thought of seeing the woman who seemed to think she had a chance at getting Damon away from me. I’d decided that no matter what I wouldn’t let the woman see me as unconfident or scared regarding my relationship with Damon.

Damon held the door and we stepped out of the bright sunlight and into the cool office. We walked to Lisa’s desk. Damon cleared his throat since she didn’t seem to realize we were there.

She looked up and smiled coyly at Damon. “Mr. Arthen, thank you for coming so quickly. The owner approved your offer. We only need to finish the paperwork and the house will be yours.”

We sat down in front of her desk as she pulled some paperwork out of a holder on her desk. We spent two hours getting everything filled out and walked out with a lighter step.

Damon’s POV

I watched Tyler out of the corner of my eye as we signed the papers for the house and I couldn’t help but smile at the small grin that formed on his lips. It was then I knew the house was the one for us. I didn’t care if the price was above the market price. He loved it and I would pay any amount to make him happy.

We got in the car and the smile hadn’t left his face from the moment we had signed the final form.

“Let’s get your truck and then get something to eat,” I suggested.

“Sounds like a plan to me. When do you think we can move in?”

“Well, they have to make sure the certified check clears but we should be able to move in a few days from now. I would say to give it a week.”

“Alright, I just want in there so badly. I want us to be able to make a home and not have to worry about anyone.”

Once we were done we got the insurance and registration current and went to dinner. We drove back to the storage unit to get his truck and then went back to the hotel to try to plan where we want everything to go in the house once we moved in.

That was on a Friday, the following week we got the call that the check had cleared and for us to come in and pick up the keys. The whole week Tyler was on pins and needles as we waited for the call to come.

We got to the Real Estate office twenty minutes after we got the call. As soon as we walked in I knew there was going to be trouble. Lisa sat at her desk with a low cut shirt on with the top of her breasts on display. She looked up and a smile lit up her face when she looked at me. I heard the low growl from Tyler and sighed.

“Good morning Mr. Arthen. I have your keys for you, all you have to do is sign this form stating that you have received them and you’re good to go,” she said with a flutter of her eyelashes. Had I not met my beloved I probably would’ve taken her up for a quick tumble in the sheets, but she was definitely not someone I would even consider for a long term relationship.

“Good morning Lisa. Got something for us?” I asked trying to be polite.

“Yes I do, but I need you to sign for them first.”

We sat down and she held out a pen for me to sign which I did with a flourish before I handed the pen to Tyler. I caught the grimace on her face but decided to ignore it and instead watched my boy sign for the keys. He set the pen down once he signed and slid everything back over to Lisa. I reached over and grabbed his hand. I rubbed my thumb in circles on the top of his hand while we waited for her to get the keys out of the wall key box.

She sashayed back with the keys in her hand and it was all I could do to not roll my eyes and groan at the picture she made. I could only think that she thought she looked sexy when in reality she looked desperate.

“Here you go Mr. Arthen,” she said coyly as she handed me the keys.

I heard Tyler snort next to me and I was glad he found it as humorous as I did. “Thank you, Lisa.”

I handed them to Tyler and stood. I shook her hand and waited for Tyler to stand. He reached out as if to shake her hand as well and got a glare as she refused to shake it. The audacity of the woman astounded me. She should know about proper customer service; if she did she definitely didn’t show it in her blatant disrespect of Tyler.

“Cariad, let’s switch to the truck and head to Babies ‘R’ us to get some furniture for the nursery.” I placed my hand on the small of his back as we walked out the door.

“Can you believe that woman? She acted as if I didn’t exist and then to glare at me is simply unacceptable.”

We got to the car and I leaned against him on the passenger door. “Cariad, I will handle the situation with her. Don’t worry about it; let’s focus on our new house.”

I gave him a quick kiss and pushed off the car. He stepped to the side as I opened his door and waited for him to climb inside.

We made it to the baby store and was amazed at the vastness of the store. We walked the aisles to look at the various cribs and bedding. I hadn’t realized how many variations there were of the simple furniture.

“Let’s find something that can be used again when the time comes fo us to adopt. I know everyone wants to adopt babies and we should probably focus on adopting an older child, but I would like to be able to go through their firsts with them jus like any other parent,” Tyler said as we looked at the various different cribs.

“To be honest I hadn’t put much thought into it. I never thought I would meet my beloved, I’d resigned myself to a life with only Domonique to keep me company. How about this; we adopt both an older child and a baby? I think that would be ideal for us.”

“I think that’s a tremendous idea. With having four bedrooms, we would still have a guest room for any company that came to visit.”

I came across a crib in a deep espresso brown and knew it could be used for boys and for girls. Plus, it had the capability to be converted into a toddler bed or a full-size bed when the time was right.

I pointed it out to Tyler and I could tell by the light in his eyes that he loved it. “That’s perfect.”

I grabbed the tag and we left to look at dressers and changing tables that would match the color. Thirty minutes later we had checked out and waiting for the stock person to grab the item we purchased and cart them out to the truck that Tyler had pulled up to the front door. We’d decided to spend a more nights in the hotel so the furniture from the storage unit could be delivered, but also so the painters could come and get the rooms painted to match our tastes. Once loaded up we drove out to the house so we could at least get the purchases inside. The next few days would be fun as we had the painting and decorating going on before we could officially move in.
