Love Bite - 12. Chapter 12

Chapter 12

Tyler’s POV

The time had finally come for us to move into the house. It took a little longer than we thought it would take. Thankfully the movers that brought the furniture from storage also arranged the rooms to our specifications so there was almost nothing to do other than unpacking and grocery shopping.

“Cariad, let’s have Tim and Jon over this weekend,” Damon suggested as we loaded the groceries into the back of the truck.

“That sounds like a marvellous idea. I’ll give him a call later today to ask them. Let’s also invite the rest of my family down and make it a family weekend.”

“Yes, let’s do that. Find out what everyone likes to eat and we’ll grill out.”

“Any type of fish or beef will be a big hit with everyone. I know Tim is more a meat and potatoes type of guy but will eat anything he’s given.”

“Alright, then let’s go back in and get some steaks and burgers, along with a couple ten-pound bags of potatoes,” Damon said as he put the last bag in the bed of the truck.

“You go ahead, I’ll stay out here in the truck with the groceries.” He gave me a quick peck on the lips before he headed back inside to get what we would need for the weekend.

By the time the weekend came around we were fully unpacked and settled in. Damon had set up the grill on the deck overlooking the lake. Jon and his family were expected at eleven o’clock and I rushed around to make sure everything was ready before they arrived.

“Cariad relax, everything will be fine. The house looks wonderful and we are ready for them.”

“I know Babe, but it doesn’t make me feel any calmer. I want them to like our home and I can’t wait to see my niece again, I haven’t seen her since we met and I’m used to going to see them every week.”

I heard someone coming up the drive thanks to the gravel driveway that we put in. A short time late the doorbell rang.

“I’ll answer the door. Stay here and take some deep breaths,” said Damon as he turned and walked out of the kitchen. I took a couple of deep breaths and followed Damon to the door.

I was shocked when I saw Lisa the Real Estate lady standing there. “Hi Damon, I wanted to make sure you were settling in nicely and see if there was anything I could do to make things easier for you.”

Hello, Lisa. We’re doing fine, all settled in. We appreciate the offer, but Tyler’s brother has been a big help to us in getting us accustomed to the area.”

I was thrilled with Damon’s response because it showed me that he had no interest in her and I just hoped she would take the hint and leave us alone, but I wasn’t going to hold my breath.

I walked up to Damon and slid my arm around his waist. “Hi Lisa, how are you this morning?”

She tried to hide the look of disgust, but I saw it anyway. “Hello,” she said grudgingly.

“Well, I would invite you in but we are expecting company,” said Damon.

“Okay, I wanted to drop off this welcome basket to welcome you to the area.” She handed Damon the basket that neither one of us had paid attention to in her hands.

“Thank you,” Damon said as he accepted it.

“Give me a call if you need anything at all,” she said before she turned and went back to her car.

As she started her car I noticed Jon’s SUV as it came down the driveway and parked next to Lisa’s car. Tim climbed out and opened the back door. He unbuckled and lifted Jasmine out of the car. I ran to their car and grabbed her out of Tim’s arms. I hadn’t seen her for a few months and she had grown into a beautiful one-year-old little girl with springy brown curls that framed her cherub face. She clapped her hands and giggled when I pulled her into my arms.

“How’s my sweet Angel?” I asked.

She patted my face. “Hi.”

I gave Tim a one-armed hug. “How are you doing?”

“I’m good little brother. Now, where’s this mate of yours?”

I turned and pointed to Damon who had stayed on the porch so I could have a bit of time, plus he was nervous to meet Tim since Jon had gotten hurt while he was in Wales. I led Tim and Jon to the porch and introduced everyone.

“Liebling, you remember my brother Jon? This is his mate Tim and their daughter Jasmine.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you,” Damon said as he held out his hand to Tim.

Jasmine tucked her head under my chin since Damon was new to her. I was positive that it wouldn’t take long for her to get used to him and would soon be clinging to him whenever she sees us.

Tim reached out and shook Damon’s hand. “It’s nice to meet you too Damon. Although I have to admit I wasn’t very happy when Jon got home banged up from coming to help you, I realized I would’ve done the same thing if I had a sibling in the same position. I’m just grateful that he wasn't bitten and he came back alive and in one piece, even if he was bruised up with a couple of broken ribs.”

“I’m really sorry about that. I wish we could’ve all gotten out of there without a scratch. I am so appreciative you were okay with him coming to help us.”

“Damon, Tyler is my brother-in-law. Do you really think I could keep his brother from going to help?”

“No, I guess not, anyway, enough of this. Please come in.” He stepped to the side and let them into the house.

I was excited and nervous about what they would think of the house as I followed them inside.

“My baby brother has found his mate and bought a house. He’s all grown up now,” Jon said as he wrapped around my shoulders and pulled me into his side. I just knew I was blushing from his comments.

As Jon and Tim wandered around the lower level of the house I anxiously waited to hear what they thought. I never realized how much Jon’s opinion mattered to me. I was the youngest of four and had always been protected by everyone. When I thought back to the battle we had in Wales I realized how treasured I was because my brother and father had made the trip in order to protect me from the oncoming danger.

“Cariad, relax. They are going to love the house. It has your personality throughout and it would be hard not to see that.”

“I know love. I have only realized how much Jon’s opinion means to me. I’ve always valued his input and advice. I only want him to realize I’ve grown up and had a mate of my own.”

“Tyler, this house is amazing. I can tell it was you who picked it out because it fits your personality perfectly,” said Jon when they met back up with us.

Thanks, Jon. Are you planning on adding to our family anytime soon?”

“We hadn’t really thought about it recently. We would love to have more children, but we think it would be best to wait a little bit. Mom was furious when we brought Jasmine to the house to see everyone.”

“Don’t let Mom run your life. She should be happy you have a child to begin with and are willing to let her be a part of your lives.”

“I know, but it’s hard ya know? What about you guys? Are you going to have children anytime soon?”

I looked at Damon to see his response. I knew he wanted children badly since all he had had growing up was Dominique in his life. He looked at me and I could see the love in his eyes.

“When the time is right we will find a surrogate for us. I’m just not sure if the vampire gene will be passed on or if we will have to turn them later in life if they want it.”

“Liebling, we will have them when we are ready. I know how much you want one and no matter if they are born with the gene or not we will love them with every fiber of our being. However, I am not willing to give Mom another chance. She blew it and when we have children she will never see them.”

“Ty, don’t let bitterness run your life. You have your mate, your brothers, and Dad. Soon you will have children who will be your life. Be happy and know you are loved no matter what Mom says.”
