Have a cookie

So I read a story about the Stella Doro factory closing in the Bronx, and I started thinking about a cookie I used to eat at my grandparents' house when I was probably no older than about five or six. They were Stella Doro cookies, but they were topped with Sesame Seeds. They were perfect for dunking in hot chocolate and would be great to dunk in my morning cup of coffee...I say would be because I found out Stella Doro stopped making them a few years ago.   Now aside from the fact that I won'

Untitled....and untranslated just for the hell of it.

Here's the first section of the first chapter of the story I've been working on.......in Greek. "Το έχω ήδη πει, μ

Give it your own title

I guess the first thing I should do is get the dust rag out and wipe the spiderwebs off of my blog. I can't believe it's been so long since I've logged on to GA. Actually, this is the first time in a long time I've been able to sit down and catch my breath in a long time.   I'm sure that everyone knows by know, but for those that might not know, I became a dad in April. My head's still spinning a little bit, but the newness of it is pretty much gone now, if that makes any sense. My daughter a

I lied

Ok, so I promised the last chapter of If By Chance in my last blog entry, but I stretched it out for at least one more chapter...sorry.   Also, I just wanted to say something in general to everyone salivating over Barack Obama's promise to do away with Don't Ask Don't Tell because it'll prove those of us who say he'll disappoint the gay community wrong; That doesn't change anything. He opposes gay marriage. That's enough for me. I'll always oppose him as long as he opposes equal rights for ev

Amidst the chaos, a voice of reason

Once again, Ron Paul rises above the fray to provide a reasoned and well thought out argument against US involvement in the middle east. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Z6vMAoFwf4     BTW, for anyone who's wondering, the last chapter of If By Chance should be finished sometime this weekend. I know I've been neglectful and I'm sorry, but life has been kicking me in the balls over and over again and it's been hard to catch my breath.

Blah Blah Blah

I guess it's time to update this thing again.......   Not much to talk about, really. Christmas was mostly uneventful. Kate and I got a bunch of baby furniture (a crib, a bassinet, a changing table and a really nice oak dresser). We both got each other clothes and I bought her some diamond earrings. I was going to get her an engagement ring, but we decided that it wasn't a good idea to make that purchase until we've actually told my folks that we're getting married. A couple months before Chr

Where the line gets blurry

This morning I woke up to a really sad email telling me that someone I met online years ago passed away. He'd been given a diagnosis of 6 months to live not long ago, but I guess sometimes the doctors are wrong. Anyway, I've tried hard to separate the online friends I have from the friends I have irl, but it doesn't always work that way. I still find myself wondering and worrying and hurting for others, even though I've never met some of them face to face. I have exactly one friend that I've m

Subliminal Criminal

Well good news if your one of my readers... I'm working on the last chapter of If By Chance and I have assembled a small group of beta readers for my next online story. I've been working on something that's not for the internet, but I haven't shown it to anyone yet because it's not going to be for public consumption. I hate to waste my editor's time on something that isn't going online and that I don't actually have a plan for yet. I highly doubt that this story's going to have a gay theme to it

The Sickness II

http://rodonline.typepad.com/rodonline/200...d-and-raci.html   Back in 2007, when Jerry Falwell died, I made an entry titled The Sickness, which is exactly what I saw in the gloating and seething hatred that reared its ugly head in the gay community. Unfortunately, I'm seeing it again.   When the voters of California passed prop 8, I was disapointed and saddened, but I was also grateful that the laws of that state have no bearing on the laws in states that do allow gay marriage. That's the

A labor of love

Wow, it's been around two months since I've been online long enough to log on to GA. That's a friggin record for me. Anyway, I took a self imposed sabbatical for a lot of reasons, most of them stemming from my own need to figure out what I want to do with myself. Not in terms of GA, but in terms of life in general. Looking back on the last few months, it's easy to see that I was spinning out of control. I was ranting and raving at the people I love at home, and even a few people I was fond of

The democrats' miserable week

It looks like Obama's overseas trip did absolutely nothing for his poll numbers here at home, a fact that irritates many democrats desperate to see the incompetent candidate elected. Perhaps he should have tried to draw a crowd of 200,000 Americans rather than go to Berlin seeking approval. He and his campaign aids must have forgotten that large crowds are only helpful if they can actually cast a vote in an American election.       Gallup Daily: Obama 45%, McCain 44%Race returns to statis

Primary Flashback

Father Pfleger: We must be honest enough to address the one who says, 'don't hold me responsible for what my ancestors did.' But you have enjoyed the benefits of what your ancestors did! And unless you are ready to give up the benefits

CRV Forum to shut down

On July 31st, the forums over at CRVboy will close due to a lack of interest.... (yawn). Okay, just kidding. Not about the forums closing, but about the yawn. To be honest, I'm not very surprised. The Simple Machines forum is very boring, and there was no encouragement from the site administration to post over there. I guess it's kinda sad because it didn't have to be that way, but like they say, water under the bridge.......   I think the next thing to go will be the entire site. There are a

Why America Needs Michael Savage

That's right, I said it. We need Michael Savage on the air. We also need Rush Limbaugh, Shawn Hannity and Neal Boortz.   So right now there's this ridiculous push to get Michael Savage taken off the air. Why? Because he has an opinion that some people disagree with. He said that 99% of autistic kids were misdiagnosed and that they're brats who need their parents to tell them to cut the act.   I don't know what makes someone autistic. I don't know if it's a chemical imbalance, or a disease t

Hey, I'm Barack Obama...the Muslim?

Ok, so I'm sick and tired of hearing people talk about whether or not Barack Obama is a Muslim or not, so let me break this down for you all.   For the last 5 months, all we've heard about is the Reverend Wright controversy, followed by the Father Pfleger fiasco. Now, considering that he's had pastor/priest issues and not Imam issues, how in the world could any logical human being come to the conclusion that Barack Obama is anything but a Christian? Obviously he was attending Christian servic

McCain the flip flopper~vs~Obama the flip flopper

John McCain, the Red state flip flopper   Having long been a member of his party's more moderate wing on a number of issues, Mr McCain began adopting more right-wing positions during the primary campaign.   Immigration   Last year, Mr McCain was one of the key backers of President Bush's plan for "comprehensive immigration reform", which would have created "paths to citizenship" for illegal immigrants, while investing more money in border security.   The plan was very unpopular with t

Fired, rehired, fired, rehired...all in one day

So yesterday was interesting. As most of you know, I work for a golf course not too far from my house working on golf carts. I repair the ones that are down and I maintain the rest of them. Part of my job is keeping the shop in order. I organize and hang belts, hoses, and tools. I also order replacement parts and keep track of inventory. Well, until March I was the only one doing the job, but since I've been getting more and more yard maintenance work, I've really cut back at the golf course, s

The Righteous One's...Thank You Shadow God :)

Steve's reference to Bone Thugs and Harmony made me bust out with some of their stuff...here's one of my favorite songs by BT~n~H     http://youtube.com/watch?v=-L5Gkv03HaY     Oh yeah, and here's my answers to Kevin's living will question, too.   Living Will: I don't see why anyone wouldn't have one. I guess I can't have one yet, but in 6 months, it seems like it only makes sense.   Life Support: Not for me, thank you   Do not Resuscitate: I can see this if I'm already terminal
