Riverhead County Fair ... Finally

Today was finally the Riverhead County Fair. I managed to get out to it and had a nice time. There were quilts, cakes, cookies, and other goodies that were entered into contests that I walked around and looked at. There were also fields of funnel cakes, apple fritters, sausages, kielbasa, hot dogs, hamburgers, cheese steak sandwiches, clams, fish, french fries, kettle corn, and so much other food you could explode from just smelling it. There were booths selling yard decorations, hair ribbons, candles, cookware, shirts, blankets, sheets, scarves, and you name it. It is just one massive shopping explosion all around you. At one end of the fair there were carnival rides, more food, face painting, create your own color sand bottle, and so many other things. Also being in Riverhead, which is the official home of Polish town, there was fresh babka, polish sausage, and other goodies also for sale. In plain English, for a dieter it was a nightmare but who wouldn't risk it all to be a part of it.

I loved walking around seeing the singers at different grandstands, Polish Dancers, Scottish Dancers, the stilt walkers, and the crowds of people. It is fun just to become anonymous and wander amongst the crowds seeing what is there and what everyone is finding. Today was also perfect weather. I mean here it is in October with 80 degree temperatures, the sun shining, and all sorts of fun going on. To put it simply I had a blast. I'm including some of the pictures from around and in the fair. Forgive me for not taking more but I was too busy enjoying myself. And for those of you who keep thinking New York is only New York City this might finally help convince you otherwise.

That sounds wonderful. I love fairs and festivals and stuff. I wonder why I didn't know about this - it can't be more then an hour away from me.

Well it was only about a half hour from me. Keep an eye on my page. I try announce what is coming up on the island that is available and cheap. With college loans still being paid back I do things on a budget. lol

My uncle used to bring me to this fair when I was little. Good memories.

Sounds like so much fun, I’m jealous! We were going to go to a similar fair not long ago, but it got rained out. :( Glad that you had perfect weather for such a nice day. :D

Thanks KC. It was a lot of fun. I just like walking around looking at all the stuff. I was pretty good too and didn't over do it on the fair food either. Besides got plenty of exercise and it was a really spectacular day.
