When I was approached to write this review, I pulled up the story and was thrilled when I realised what story it was. I've read this and loved it! The first paragraph of this story is branded in my mind. I barely had to skim it to remember this great plot and its two main chacters.

Chris works in his father's restaurant, in hopes of one day being the chef in his own restaurant. He is dating one of the waitresses until they have a big blow up in the kitchen, resulting in Neil (the busboy) getting burned with melted sugar that Chris was cooking on the stove. Avoiding a plate the angry girlfriend throws at him, Chris sloshes the hot liquid and is shocked when he hears the cries of anguish and sees the boiling sugar on the skin of the young man.

The story of Chris and Neil is unique to say the least. As you read about these guys, you can't help but fall in love with them. We all have our secrets, and some we hope we never have to reveal. I wouldn't dare spoil the story by revealing secrets, but one of the boys has a BIG secret, and it's worth every minute you take to read their story to find out what it is.

I was enthralled with the story from the get go. Cia writes in a way that always makes me take sides when it comes to her characters, and I seem to pick the good guy everytime, so far.. I promise you. Her imagination can take you places that you've never imagined or dreamed of, and she does this in 'Burden of Secrets'.

The plot has a little bit of everything. You have the drama from beginning to end. There's sex and romance, and a little bit, or maybe a lot of fantasy thrown into the mix. It is definitely something you need to read and find out.

You can't go wrong with such a great writer and captivating story. Go read and let Cia know how much you enjoyed it. It's definitely one to be put on your list of "must reads" if you haven't already done so!

Aww, I didn't know I was going to be featured! Thank you so much for the wonderful review, Jo Ann! We have so much content in Premium from the great authors that have made GA their home over the years and more to come from them, and some of the newer popular authors as well. It's a great way to thank the members that have the ability to support the site with their premium subscription.

Thank you again for the wonderful review of my story and writing in general. Without the great feedback I received here on GA I never would have gone beyond my first fumbles at writing a story. Every bit of feedback I received (even the reviews I sometimes miss replying to for a while, sorry!!) helps encourage me to keep writing. :D

I loved this story. Cia captured so the haunting homesickness for want of a better word that Niel always carried around with him.  For most of the story it was like you could taste his need to be home but on the other hand ,everything he did was subtle subterfuge because he had to stay hidden and three steps ahead of what or whoever was after him.

You knew Niel was different but you don't find out til near the end why.  When he met chris he's torn between his wants of what is behind him and what is in front of him.  Chris is persistent and is just what Niel needs. Laughter, suspense, a little mayhem but the ending was perfect. It was a beautiful story and everyone should get the premium membership. Burden of Secrets is just one of the many excellent stories that you will find there.

I might become a member if I had a way to pay. I don't own a credit card (and I never will) and Paypal just doesn't work for me. But that's not just this site. It's a lot of English sites I have this problem on. I usually use a payment method that allows me to authorize payment by visiting my bank, puts it on my cellphone bill or allows me to pay for it at a nearby convenience store. I don't think any of those options are very common outside of Japan, so I just put up with it and wait for a day when a more flexible system comes along.

In the U.S., you can get prepaid Visa gift cards in grocery stores, where they carry other "gift certificate" cards - is this an option in Japan?

There's lots of other types of prepaid cards, like for iTunes or specific videogames and movies and the like, but unfortunately nothing of that sort. At least I've never run into them. Maybe I could find something like that at an army base, but as far as I know regular Japanese aren't allowed into those without a good reason.

That was so very nice of you to look, thank you!

Unfortunately, what you found is not a prepaid card, it's pretty much a debit card that you use as a member of Suruga Bank, which I am not. You can get the VISA logo added to your bank card here, but in order to do that you need to have a steady salary job for at least a year and I'm afraid that's a big problem as I don't have that type of job.

Thank you so much for trying though! I'll be sure to purchase Premium status if I find a way to do so!
