Zowie was coined in 1902 as a sound a speeding automobile makes.

Not surprising since zowie was used.

The corny fight words were used for two purposes. It gave a connection back to the origin in comics, but more practically, it covered up the terrible fight choreography.

@ValkyrieHere's another Batman connection. One of The Riddler's henchmen was named Zowie.
