Having grown up on a farm, I'm very familiar with the word bovine, but the political arena has given it an entirely new meaning for me, as Myr and Raven have pointed out.  .

They used to be described as foxes, lions, etc. Now just herd animals.

And sometimes the herd seems to be headed toward a cliff.

Just east of Vicksburg, MS on I-20 is a little town called Bovina. Set between the Big Black River and the Vicksburg bluffs, it is a nice rustic setting for getting away from everything except mosquitoes.
