Yes, the word doesn't mean what it sounds like.  

Morass can also mean a complicated or confused situation.

This is a classic example I think, of why people learning English seem to have such a hard time of it. Of course, it could be as easy as it sounds, in this instance the plural of which would be........., please.:gikkle:
