When I heard that the bank manager had been fired for peculation, I thought it was some sort of bizarre sex crime I didn't want to know about.

And it's not just the banks you can peculate from.  A few people working in the accounting departments of businesses have also found ways to peculate from their employers as well.  I even heard a story about a department manager in a large grocery store collaborating with a supplier to pad delivery records and then split the ill gotten gains.  Some people will go to extremes to peculate from their employers. 

Shame companies no longer have stationery cupboards  which were like a sweet shop with all those brightly coloured highlighter pens just asking to be peculated…
