It's possible that bathtubs are slowly trending out of style, but I'll never forget the cast iron, claw-footed bathtub that I took baths in as a child.

Bathtubs are sometimes being left out of new homes or remodels as people switch to built in showers.

Maybe from exposing generations of kids to institutional showers. Then a lot of these bathtubless homeowners will put in a hot tub.

I like taking long, luxuriant baths.

I don't believe bathtubs will ever go totally out of style, because where would you give your toddler and young children baths and where else could they play with their bath toys?  There's the age between 2 and 7 or 8, possibly even 9 or 10, before many children are capable of taking a shower by themselves.

And it can be costly to your resale value too! A house that installed a sun room addition with a jacuzzi in the middle of the floor, that had to stopped being used to decades of fighting cancer, eventually was pulled out and the hole filled in. Try to sell a home with two showers, 3 toilets and 2 tiny pedestal sinks and one larger sink is sometimes not appealing to buyers. Unless you are going to rip out a bedroom for a proper size bathroom.
