Science fiction authors often fall into the trap of anthropomorphizing their aliens. As we are yet to encounter any aliens, this is understandable. We are likely to discover any aliens we may encounter are much more alien than we bargained for.

Think of how dull our world would be if there was no such thing as anthropomorphizing.  We would have no Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet, Kanga, or Roo.  There would be no Mickey or Minnie Mouse, Donald or Daisy Duck, Uncle Scrooge, or Hewey, Dewey, or Louie, let alone Goofy.  And we wouldn't have had Buzz Lightyear or Woody either.  Thank God for anthropomorphizing.
