Tautological is also something which is true by virtue of its logical form alone. Like, the car is either red or not red.

The day I was born, the day I first came into this world, the moment I breathed my first breath of air, the day the doctor helped to remove me from my mother's womb - I think you get the picture by now.

Tautology comes from the Greek word tautologos, which means repeating what is said, or the Latin word tautologia.  Tautology's first use in English was in 1555 in the writings of Richard Sherry, a schoolmaster and author.
