Boron Definition & Meaning - Merriam-Webster

The name Boron comes from the mineral borax which gets its name from the Arabic word "burah". Boron is the first element in the thirteenth column of the periodic table. The chemical symbol of Boron is B. The boron atom has five electrons and five protons. 

If my calculations are correct, we should be up to Rhodium (element 45 on the Periodic Table) by Christmas Day.

Boron is a good illustration of why it took so long for many elements to be identified. It never appears in its elemental form in a terrestrial environment but as part of a naturally occurring mineral (Colemanite, Rasorite, Tincal & Ulexite account for 90% of Boron's abundance on earth).  Elemental Boron is found in small amounts in meteors, but never in pure deposits on earth.
