So! Yesterday I got accepted to The University of Wisconsin Green Bay, and that is where I am going to go!! I am very excited. I am not sure what I am going to study yet... but I do know that I would like ot get a minor in Spanish. I think that I might get a major in Social Work, but I am really not sure yet, so for my first year I am going to go as undecided.

 

Now, i have lived all of my life in Green Bay. My best friend Anna is also going to UWGB. So, we are going to rent an apartment. It is going to be me, her, her Boyfriend Kyle, and his best friend Jesse. I know that it is going to be really hard at times, but I think that it will work out. I really need to get out of this house. Thinsg have not been good between my parents and I. They do not want me to move out, but there is no way that I can stay with them while I go to college. It would be a lot cheaper, but I would probably end up shooting myself. I am also sure that they will be happier when i am move out. I just really do not think that they like me (it is stupid I know). I got really excited when I found out that I got accepted to UWGB and they didn't even congratulate me or anything. It kind of made me sad.

 

I am really looking forward to Spring. I will turn 18, I can move out, I can get my tattoo, and High School will just about be done.

 

I really need High School to be done. I am so sick of all of these immature people.

I'm sorry things are rough with your parents right now. Personally, I agree with you, you'll probably be happier on your own, and while I doubt that THEY will be happier, I agree that it's probably something you should do. Just my opinion though.

Congratulations, Kurt! You've still got time to work out what you want to do with your life, so keep as many options open as you can. That applies to your parents, too -- just keep the lines of communication open, even if they don't seem to be living up to their side of the deal.

Congratulations on getting into UWGB. I think that as a college student, it will be okay for you to not live with your parents. It's a good thing to develop yourself as person independent from them. Give yourself permission to become your own self.

 

And the beautiful thing is that since you'll be in the same city, your folks will be close by if you need them. (Of course, the converse is also true--you'll be close by if they need you.)

 

It's okay if you haven't picked your major yet. The great secret of college is that you get to learn how to learn, beyond any specific content, so that in the years to come when what you've studied becomes outdated, you'll know how to update yourself. And another thing--don't let your schooling get in the way of your education.

 

The only thing I'm not excited about is the tatoo--okay, I'm an old fuddy-duddy, but tatoos are so irreversible. You wanna make a permanent commitment to a piece of artwork? First, make a permanent commitment to a sweetie--and you'll see how fraught with tension and emotion and insecurity THAT idea can be...

the tattoo... In my group of friends we are all getting a tattoo on our 18th birthday. I know what i want and i still have 6 months to decide for sure, but i really want my tattoo!!! :)

On my 18th I had my ear pierced, and that was painful enough. Tattoo? Me thinketh not! :ph34r:

I hate to break it to yeh, but immature people exist outside of highschool too, trust me i learned that one the hard way. Haha
