Week 4
Three Win Teams:
Vikings- There is reason for optimism in Viking country. With Peterson running and Farve showing flashes of that old bayou magic, the Vikes look to be closer to making a run than they have been in years.
Denver- Call me back when they play somebody- oops, they've got Dallas next week... but is Dallas anybody?
Colts- are expected to be a playoff team from a weak division. Theier real test is how far they get once they get in the playoffs.
Giants- whuppin' Tampa Bay doesn't impress as much as beating the Cowboys at their home opener.
Jets- are another team that hasn't really been tested yet. We'll see how good they are this weekend when they visit the Saints in the Superdome.
Ravens- have the Pats and the Vikings in the next three weeks.
Saints- beat a good Buffalo team and have a lot of peoples attention. Their first real test will be the Jets this weekend.
The Rest
The Pats beat the Falcons this weekend and Brady looked more like the Brady we remember. He exposed the Falcon secondary... but he exposes a lot of peoples secondary. How the Birds shore things up on defense is going to make a big difference in how far they go. Are the Pats back? We'll see. Their schedule looks like 10 miles of bad road. The Falcons have open date to fugure things out.
The Pack won their second as did the Bears and it looks like a three way dog fight for the NFC North Division is shaping up.
The Lions broke the longest losing streak and beat Jim Zorn's Redskins. It had to happen- Stafford is a good young QB and the Lions can look forward to better days.
The Bengals are playing better football than they have in years. If they keep it up, they could translate a soft schedule into a Wild Card. It's too early to call them a surprise team but they look good. I might quit calling them the Bungles.
What happened to the Jags? For the last few years they have been the best team nobody had ever heard of but they are 1-2 this season and have not looked good. Their schedule is kind: they have the Titans-Seahawks-Lambs coming up so they have a chance to recover but that defense doesn't look nearly as scary as it was last year.
Games of the Week
____________________
Ravens-Pats A real test for both teams: are the Pats physical enough and can the Ravens contain Brady?
Saints-Jets This might be the game of the week. Two unbeaten teams that are both playing well- it doesn't get any better.
Cowboys-Broncos The first real test of the Broncos: can Orton move the ball against the Dallas defense and can the Broncos defense handle the Dallas ground game. Will Romo play like he is capable of playing or will he look startled?
Chargers-Steelers Anybody's ball game. Roethlisberger needs to play better and the Chargers need to focus. Whoever gets it together will win and, you can bet both teams will spend some time in the hot-tub after this one.
Packers-Vikings This is the game a lot of people a lot of people are waiting to see. Farve will face his old team- two years after retiring. I'm thinking the Vikes have the talent edge but the Packers are going to be pissed. Call it the Black & blue bowl because you can bet these two old rivals will go after each other in this one.
